Intel has very successful marketing
but personally, I like AMD better
becoz I can get better price/performance ratio
and it seems to be DIYer's favorites too

and has an option for Mac users, Power PC

I've now owned 3 intels and one AMD and I've had nothing but bad experience with the AMD (could very likely be the vendor that is the problem and not the processor) Regardless it is difficult to get over and I have had a number of people tell me that A/V is not the forte of the AMD

Seems to me their new 64-bit chips put AMD ahead of Intel. As a bonus, AMD supports open source development, particularly Linux. Competition is good.

I have nothing against Intel, but I prefer AMD's product personally. Just personal prefrence on my part...

I would like to play with some of the other platforms tho. Like Sparc, for example...

I also started using AMD for personal reasons when I started playing with these things, since I've never had any problems with them, I've not gone to any other chips.

I love AMD, Intel has gotten too big for their own good. From all the past experience I have had with both AMD and Intel, AMD beats Intel in processor power and speed even with its lower GHz rating. I am also a very price oriented buy so AMD has my vote. biggrin.gif
