I personally feel Christians in the US are under a double standard. I mean if a teacher in a class room stood up and started preaching creationism and professing God as the creator, the far left would run him or her out. That is more or less world wide. Look at those cartoonist who did the Mohamid cartoons. They are in hiding but no one blames the Muslims. No that would offend them. What do you think.

I think that things in the US are much the same as Australia - everyone is tolerated - except Christians.
All religions are tolerated - except true Christian belief.

We are a tolerant society, but we cannot tolerate the love of Christ, forgiveness, any talk of commandments or God's moral standards.

and is it any wonder? prophecy told us it would be like this. We are in the last days, come soon Lord Jesus.

None of this should come as a surprise. And, to be fair, I know some Christians in the US who cause more problems than they solve by their arrogant attitudes. I always remind our folks that it is Jesus that makes the difference in our lives. We are certainly no better than anyone else, but Jesus is the One Who makes us worthy to come before God, based on His righteousness.

Still, it sure can be frustrating. We need t continue to work to change these things, but one thing I try to remember is that the world owes me nothing. I owe them the same Gospel that changed my life.

fight the good fight. By the way, NS, I always appreciate your posts. Have a great day!

Thank You! You do bring up very good points. I think American culture has really gotten into things as well. That is on both sides of the spectrum. My wife just got back from Jordan where she's from. I couldn't go due to my work schedual and her Grandmother is probably going to go be with the Lord soon so she went with my daughter who's 20mo. She said that it seems as though Christians are more respected over there even though Muslims by nature dislike Christianity. It's just a different culture. You could say Christians are just tolorated. Here in America, most of the time we by nature think we are better then the next one. I think we're all guilty of that in some way. I try my hardest to remember we're all family here. The ones I really resent and say they shouldn't even be called American are people like Ward Churchill and the likes of him.

fortunately our society is not yet to the point of destroying EVERYTHING christian. I am a Science teacher in a school. Because my school is a Christian school I can present evidence against evolution and state my beliefs in class. I treat that as a real privilege. To me this means I have to treat other ideas with respect, not necessarily confirmation, but treat the person like a human and actually answer their argument or question.
unfortunately any christian who does take a stand is not always afforded the same respect.

It is frustrating to feel that you can't tell people "Happy Easter" or "God Bless You" for fear of offending them. It seems to me that it's OK for people to discriminate against Christians and fat people. Those are the about the only 2 things that haven't been politically corrected in their favor. Am I making any sense or just rambling? unsure.gif

No, ballydun, you make sense. The other day at Wal-Mart the clerk said have a nice day and I wanted to respond Happy Easter, but I didn't. I walked out wondering why I didn't and then thinking I should try to start, instead of saying have a nice day, saying God Bless You. Any one with me?

I say "Lord bless you" quite a bit to folks at the checkout stand. Not always, but fairly frequently. I've never gotten a negative response from anyone and most of the time it brings a smile.

We should do it as an experiment and see what happens. Try for a week or something and report back our results. It sure could be intersting and maybe start a new trend?

I'm with you 1000000% If we offend them, tough. Just remember it's not us they have a problem with, it's God.

I'm sorry to be uninformed, but who is Ward Churchill?
