Ron, I teach at Glendale Community College. Best job I've ever had!

--------------------
Where now the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing?
Where is the helm and the hauberk, and the bright hair flowing?
Where is the hand on the harpstring, and the red fire glowing?
Where is the spring and the harvest and the tall corn growing?
They have passed like rain on the mountain, like a wind in the meadow
The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow
Who shall gather the smoke of the dead wood burning
Or behold the flowing years from the Sea returning?

Glendale, eh? Great! What do you teach there? BTW: I went to LA Valley in fall of 65.....and Long Beach Silly Cottage (City College) in 69, and Cerritos in 69 and DeAnza (NorCal) in 72....(all music) .... but graduated with a history degree from Augsburg (Mpls., MN) in 77...long story.

Yup, professional student after The Army. Went also to UWLaCrosse, WI while I was working at the radio station back there.

Lotsa smoke down in your area right now, huh? And not the happy kind....

Respect,
RON

I teach computer science. And teaching here is the best way to become a professional student; they actually PAY me to learn! Amazing! I'm working on a film school certificate at LA Valley.

The smoke is blowing away from us today, but it was a grim five days with no letup in smoke and ash.

Have to go now... must grade. bored.gif

Sounds fun, Homegirl, except for the grading part.....

Since you're a computer specialist....how do I get into the chat room with Annabelle, OldRaven and the rest....what's the secret?

Drop a note when you have time.....and I'm glad you're ok re: fires....the on-shore winds are a blessing right about now.

Just wanted to introduce myself since I am becoming a regular. I am new to the neighborhood and loving it, great atmosphere. It has been said when introducing oneself to say at least one interesting thing about oneself; my one interesting thing for now is that I am Cherokee and Irish. Though I am sure I will have plenty to say later, until then
Cheers everyone,

When I was growing up in Oklahoma, many of my classmates boasted such illustrious ancestry! Welcome from another newbie!

Thanks for the help getting into chat.....I was already doing all the things people told me how to do, but maybe, unlike this crew, it was just a slow loader and I was exhibiting the attributes of a ADD ferret on crack and not waiting long enough.

Got in there last night, tho.

Thanks Silverdragon. I am just glad I have the papers to prove my ancestry. So many today don't have that blessing. I was raised in Oklahoma, lived two years in Houston, and have returned to Oklahoma once again. Good to be back in the country. Well, kinda

Myriad, I totally understand "Well, kinda." I make my home in California now, and it would take a lot to tempt me to move back to Oklahoma.

I envy your proof of ancestry. I can't even trace mine all the way back to my parents... smile.gif

That is the irritating marquee tag, I think it only works if you are using IE, it will just look like a normal post if you are using Netscape. Their irritating tag is called blink, but since I don't have netscape I won't know if it works or not.

Leo cool.gif

Leo,
Hola, mi amigo! The "blinking" works with Netscape as well (I have Netscape 7.15, and refuse to go with IE!). I must confess that I am amazed and mildly curious about how you are able to get the icons and smilies into your messages and posts!
Buenas tardes.

Merry Meet to all,
Just a note to introduce myself. My name is Celeste, I'm a celtic wiccan. My history consists of many things but the main ones are Scottish, Irish, French and Italian. I am very proud of my history and plan to teach my children about each one. I've been married for almost 2 years, my husband is a wonderful man.
He is Phillipino/American. He has 4 beautiful children that I love dearly
