I've been wondering lately, and thought I'd ask--which "ghost" show(s) do you all enjoy watching? I'm fond of TAPS' Ghost Hunters, and can't wait until the 29th for the start of the new season! I like their approach to each situation - analyze, scientifically try to explain/find the cause(s) for the phenomena but go in with an open mind and don't be afraid to admit it if you're unable to explain what's happening unsure.gif , or even to admit that you think there's definitely something paranormal about it after all! shocking.gif Just don't go in with your mind already made up either way.

Which show(s) do you all watch?? ghost.gif

I love the Brittish one on the Travel Channel, the one with the blond chick who gets all freaked out and Derek the medium who gets all into the dude's he's connecting with.

My husband thinks the show is nuts, but the kids and I will watch it and laugh out butts off. Like a good ghost story, creepy enough to hook, but removed enough to not be frightened by.

We watched part of their live show at Halloween time. Too many commercials. But the comments people had from watching the webcams was great. And I liked them bringing in the dog, though a lot of the dog's actions could be attributed to the tense human atmosphere and not paranormal.

I saw one this week with Jennifer Love Hewitt and I don't know how they did it but my hair was standing on end for a solid half hour.....wait a minute...you were talking about non-fiction....never mind.

Have you ever listened to the radio talk show "The Other Side"?

Raven, I've never heard of that show sad.gif how do I find it??

Elspeth, I watched an episode of "Most Haunted" but found it too unbelievable, too dramatic. I'll have to watch it again and just have fun with it like you do tongue.gif

Most Haunted is the best sit-com on TV since um...Charmed. tongue.gif

You really don't want to hear me when I start picking on it...LOL

I liked Ghosthunters (TAPS) until about the second season, when things became a little *too* stinted. Too much drama between the members (yes, it's reality TV and that's what the producers want, but...), too much goofing around, and too little of the meat and potatoes. Of course, this is coming from a ghosthunter and not someone out for entertainment, so I guess I have a different take on things because I know how things really *do* work in the community. I've got a few other issues with the show, but I'll save that rant for later.

I like the guys, and I've talked with Grant and Jay off and on as well as Mike. I think that Sci-Fi has really dumbed down and sensationalized an already sensationalized field and robbed it of its value.

I'm trying to think of the other few I've seen lately...for the life of me I can't think of the one TLC has. E! has one too, and I sat there and cackled before turning the channel. The one with the medium and the skittish Scots girl...? Yeah. Gods.

Is that the same show that had a television version, many moons ago?

I just wish all of the would quit with the recapping after every commercial and the one that is so into the tech aspect would quit yacking about who has what extension cords. Dumbed down is a good observation. All their veiwers don't have single diget IQ's.

I mean, get the audience hooked on some ghost stories with a cool location, throw in a medium, some guys with technology and see what happens.

Oh, and call me strange, but I like the one with Derek the wonder medium and the skittish chic. It's funny. Ever see it when they bring in the dog? Good addition, but you can never tell if the dog is reacting to 'something' or just the nerves and adrenelin of the people in the room.

So, just what shows are out there? Can someone name them and the channel they're on.

See, that's kind of the problem. Ghosthunting, far and away, isn't that bloody glamorous. In fact most of it is pretty damned tedious. They sort of gloss over that in most shows, with Ghosthunters being the only one that really gets into it at all. On average a team will spend 2-4 hours per hour of data recorded, be that video, audio, or what have you. Even more time might be spent with "definite maybes". You don't wanna know how many times I've nodded off listening to and/or staring at lots of...nothing. LOL

That doesn't make for entertaining TV.

And the tech aspect is really monotonous on TV.

I like to watch ghost stories. A susbstitute to what used to be told around fires on long, cold winter evenings.

But then, I've never been a fan of reality TV. I got enough reality in life. tongue.gif

THat can be quite entertaining smile.gif

I am a big fan of Derek Acorah, so I watch Derek Acorah's Ghost Towns. I also watch Most Haunted and Dead Famous. I never miss an episode of any of these shows.

We watched Most Haunted this weekend and laughed at all the jumps and starts. biggrin.gif

But, the 'skeptic' who went into the attic alone.... That did scare me jsut to imagine what it would be like to be in an attic were earlier freaky things happened, and to be there all alone, and in the dark....

It was cool when the two mediums independently told the same tale... of course the skeptical side goes to collusion....

Saw some of Ghost town... I like Derek. He's fun. If nothing else, you believe he believes what he hears.

Personally, I think Sam just has a sick sense of humor.

OK, why?

Sam seems to be the quintessential tease. Does he ever give out whole dates? No. Names? *Hell* no. Ever do the "oh hey I've gotta go your signal is breaking up" thing to people on the phone you wanted to get rid of? I swear that's the impression I get with "Sam".

I love the one on the travel channel "Most Haunted" but I am not sure if I buy it. I wonder sometimes if its all planned out. But the one in the lighthouse in St. Augustine Fl. I did see and it gave me something to think about. I saw whatever it was that moved. But I think they may have did some tirckery with the audio of the woman saying" help me".
