I recently ran across a recipe again I hadn't tried for quite a while but it was a favorite when my kids were still at home. With the feta cheese you need for it it makes a nice summer dish. Here we go:

Gratin with potatoes, minced meat and feta cheese

Ingredients:

0,8 lb (350 gram) potatoes, raw
0,8 lb (350 gram) minced meat
0,5 pint (250ml) water
0,5 pint (250 ml) liquid cream
salt
pepper
1 onion, fine chopped
parsley, very fine chopped
garlic powder or fresh garlic, chopped
pinch or two of rosemary
1 tablespoon flour
7 ounces (200 gram) mild feta cheese

Method:

Preheat the oven to 200°C.
Peel the potatoes and cut them into really THIN slices.
Peel and chop the onion.
Put a bit of vegetable oil into a big frying pan and fry the minced meat and onions till it's slightly browned.
Add the parsley and let it also fry for a minute.
Mix the water with the liquid cream, add salt, pepper, garlic powder, rosemary until it's tasty, add the flour and stir well.
Pour it over the mince and onions and let it cook for a minute or two.
Now you add the sliced potatoes and mix it with the meat, let it cook for about 3-5 minutes. Turn it inbetween.

Take a big oven proved bowl which you usually use for gratins and pour meat and potatoes into it.
Cover it with crumbled feta cheese and put it in the oven. Use middle heat.
It will take about 1 hour; the dish is ready when the potatoes are done (soft).

Serve with some fresh salad.

If you like it more tasty you may add a bit of a beef cube to the water and cream; I use the vegetarian (vegetable) ones here.
You may also melt a bit of creamy cheese in it, is very yummy also.

Give it a try, we love it. Have a good appetite!!!
