Howdy Folks,

The following poem was started at Imbolic,
intended as my greeting / offering for Bridgit's
Day. But, I got stuck on the last verse and
couldn't create a satisfactory ending, until
yesterday. Writer's block, I suppose. So,
belated fond wishes for Imbolic and Happy
Valentine's Day tomorrow.

(I know Valentine's is not a Celtic holiday, but
any celebration of love is worthy, especially in
times of war.)

Imbolic Lambs

Cold dawn breaks o're the lambing shed,
Wobbly-legged twins standing in the straw bed.
New mother nuzzles her lambs just born,
More on the way this late winter's morn.

Green blades of grass peek through the snows
Ewes and lambs to pasture, our happy flock grows.
Stay close to Mom in this new wide field,
Don't step far from her warm wooly shield.

Wildflowers bloom, the lambs are getting bolder,
White fleeces grow as they get bigger and older.
They sport about the hills in a soft Spring coat,
Come Samhain that will be my warm woolen cloak.

Slan Y'all,
