Happy Robbie Burns Day Everyone and here's a story someone sent me.
Tony Blair is visiting an Edinburgh hospital. He enters a ward full of patients with no obvious sign of injury or illness and greets one. The patient replies: "Fair fa your honest sonsie face, Great chieftain o' the puddin race, Aboon them a you take your place, Painch, tripe or thairm, As langs my airm."
Blair is confused, so he just grins and moves on to the next patient. The patient responds: "Some hae meat and canna eat, And some wad eat that want it, But we hae meat and we can eat, So let the Lord be thankit."
Even more confused, and his grin now rictus-like, the PM moves on to the next patient, who immediately begins to chant: "We sleekit, cowerin, timrous beasty, Thou needna start awa sae hastie, Wi bickering brattle."
Now seriously troubled, Blair turns to the accompanying doctor and asks "What kind of facility is this? A mental ward?" "No", replies the doctor. "This is the serious Burns unit."

Aaidewen,
Of course. You are quite right. Please forgive my sometimes unbridled Mac fanaticism.

What Avonlea????? You worked on Macs for years and despise them. I find it almost impossible to imagine that you have worked on Macs for years and despise them. To me, that seems almost incomprehensible - that you find those beige monsters using any buggy Windows operating system preferable to the almost rock solid, lickable, graphical interface of the Mac OS X comes close to, well, almost scaring me. Are Macs, even on the face of them ?????? - aesthetically more pleasing - never mind the operating system - you have to give a resounding yes.
In response to Aaidiwens's comments the difference is because of the ways the OS's work there is not the need to constantly upgrade hardware every time a new piece of software comes out. Because Mac's are not and never will be gaming machines, they are the workhorse of people who actually want to do some work, there will not be the need for ridiculous amounts of graphics RAM. To do digital imaging or even digital video graphics RAM is not the issue, it is system RAM and CPU capability, running a RISC processor with enough RAM and a stable operating system that does not need vast quantities of its RAM and Processor time devoted to virus scanning, and running all that spy ware, will give you far greater performance than you will ever get from $2000 windoze machine. Mac owners upgrade their machines, but I only do it about once every 5 years.
Go here to find out why you should switch to a Celtic Computer. As groundskeeper Willie might have said "If it ain't scottish it's craaaaaap."

Aaediwen,
I simply meant MacIntosh - from the Gaelic "mac an toisch" or "son of the leader". In some ways when Apple named their computer they knew that fundamentally it was a leading operating system. It is.
Nobody who has ever used a Macintosh computer system ever had to think about going out and buying a new "video card."
Computer sales people everywhere will tell you, "do not buy a MacIntosh. You can't get the programs for them". Do not listen to them. As Will Shakespeare would have said, "Their ignorance is bliss. T'is folly to be wise".
Go get a Mac and trust me, you will never look back.
All the best,

Greetings Everyone,
Great news from Apple Macintosh eh? A user friendly computer that is cheap and isn't plagued by the viruses of Microsnot. I love my Apple. It has never been to the computer hospital for anything and now they are making them so that people can more easily afford them. Are u thinking about a Mac. Don't hesitate. You will within a month wonder why you had never switched.

Rindy,
You said:
"I agree with both of you on spanking. You can sure tell the kids who have been spanked and the ones that need spanking. "
I may be wrong on this Rindy, but the ones who have been "spanked" are often the ones who in elementary school feel that aggression and violence have been sanctioned by their parents and are therefore an ok way to solve problems. Every elementary school teacher can tell relatively quickly which of their grade one students are likely to go on for careers in your prisons. It is more likely the kids who have been beaten er "spanked", that ultimately have the most problems.
Check this out at your local elementary school. Ask the teachers, Who in the school system presents the most problems? Is it the kids who have been beaten or the children who come from loving and respectful families that present as the most problematic?
I think it's an absurd notion to believe that you get loving and respectful people out of "spanking" children. By the way, with this spanking notion, is their any measure about how hard you should hit them?????
That's my opinion.

Greetings Everyone,
On a contrary view, who was it that said "The measure of how civilized we are can be guaged by the state of our prisons."
Around Christmas time methinks it wouldn't hurt either to wish Peace and Love to all those people less fortunate than ourselves. Peace and Love to the prisoners, prostitutes, the homeless, the Poor, the abused - to abused children who may grow up to become criminals. "Great As the Sea is their Sorrow" and what's to hurt in wishing them Peace and Love?
All the best of the Season to You All

Hey toute le Monde,
I like this music page. Thanks for the Nancey Whiskey lyrics. I must track down the chords to that one.
How about Braw Braw Lads? They don't mention drinking in it but I can see drinking while singing it.
Here are the Lyrics. By the way, I have a version of it by the famous Scot Group the Corries and what an excellent group they were. CD - 2 set called Peat Fire Flames and Stovies. Get that CD if yu like Scottish traditional music. If anybody would like to hear their version, let me know it should be doable.
Braw, braw lads o' Galla Water, Bonnie lads o' Galla Water; I'll kilt my coats abune my knee, And follow my love through the water; Braw, braw lads. Lothian lads are black as deils, And Selkirk lads are no' much better; I'll kilt my coats abune my knee And follow the lad o' Galla Water; Braw, braw lad. It's ower the moss and doon yon glen, And ower the bonnie blooming heather, Nicht or day he bears the gree, The bonnie lad o' Galla Water; Braw, braw lad. Corn rigs are fine and bonnie, A block o' sheep is muckle better, The wind will shake a field of oats While lambs are frisklin' in Galla Water; Braw, braw lads.
Adieu, soor plooms o' Galashiels, Tae you, my faither, here's a letter; It's I'm awa' wi' the black herd lad, To bide wi' him in Galla Water; Braw, braw lad.
All the best, GMD |

For Sure, I would use it. Will it work for Canadians? I notice iTunes does not work in Canada only the U.S., and some countries in Europe.
Great feature to add though. |

Mares Eat Oats & Does eat oats & Little Lambs Eat Ivey a Kid'll Eat Ivey Too Wouldn't You???????
My beautiful old Irish grandmother used to sing this (Quote it) to me when I was a Kid. Her name was Ella King. I promptly went out and ate Ivey thinking this was what she was getting at when I complained about her baked potatoes, which sat in a woodstove all day in Northern New Brunswick.
Ah, to be able to go back there then. I wish.
St. Patrick's day always brings her to my mind and us going to church at St. Patricks in South Nelson, N.B. on the beautiful Mirimachi.

Greetings Celtic Radio Lovers,
Anyone having problems with iTune losing the connection to Celtic Radio? I can't seem to hear it anymore and really miss it. Everything else works including Grassy Hill, Folk Alley etc. How to get Celtic Radio back to my Scottish MacIntosh. Ideas out there?
With thanks,
