I wrote this in a time of wondering why I'm not satisfied with "normality" in a time when I was dissapointed in life and couldn't get myself out of those disgusting doldrums we sometimes face that leave us wanting something else.

Why go to those places?
The light is different there
If it’s too dark
If it’s too light
No one knows
It doesn’t matter
Why go to those places?

Why do we seek those places?
The light is different there
Even if it’s light
Even if it’s dark
It matters most of all
So we go

In those places we see.
We see lightness
Darkness
Shades of gray.
Unlikely shades of time
Spoken from eternity
For some reason
We go to those places

For Eternity is our heritage
and we must nuture our souls
with adventure.

I agree with Donajhi. I guess there are a myriad of answers to where "these places" really are, depending on the person. Personally, I am even now looking for something new. so it kinda fits. nice work smile.gif

Very very good poem Sir and a lot of truth in it too.
Eternity is our heritage.

Thanks for sharing it with us and encourage you to write again soon.

TandVh..a very nice poem and truly from the heart. I would have liked it to be a little longer. If you ever have a new version of it..post it and let us see. I re-write my poems all the time. Seems like after I read them years later I have a slightly different thought on things, and feel I have to modify the poem! I try not to change too much though, of course.

As well, I have many times tortured myself over why I can't except normalcy. Years later I still do not except it and continue to look for more.

You're quite right- I wrote a poem about Lilith (adams first wife) in colledge- 30 years later, I added to it considerably and was able to better convey what I originaly wanted to 30 years prior!

I'll try to find it...........
