Sometimes an album deserves a second look because it contains a fresh and invigorating interpretation of well known and traditional songs. In this day of age, we all need a different perspective and I can attest that Ru Ra's debut album is certainly deserving of a second look by all.

One needs to look no further than this album to understand that the creative talents of Thomas Leigh and Maggie Carchrie will be taking the Celtic world by storm. Combining traditional Gaelic songs with progressive keyboard arrangements and percussion that is simply brilliant, this album will quickly become a favorite in your Celtic dance collection.

Some of my personal favorites from this album are "Two Pence worth" and "Two sisters." The introduction on "Two Pence Worth" is a good example how Thomas & Maggie build up the dance beat before Maggie's clear and enchanting vocals have you dancing to their unique blend of Celtic music.

While I have found Celtic music to be inspiring and motivating, I seem to be always looking for those groups that fuse the old with the new in a way that can truly set them apart. In a day when "Celtic Woman" is taking the nation by storm and "Off Kilter" is singing the bagpipe rap; Ru Ra certainly has a sound and quality that should be seriously taken for a break through in new Celtic sounds.

I continue to be uplifted by their debut album and I would urged everyone to take a second look at this "break through" album - merging old and new to create a wonderful addition to your Celtic music library.

And so we have added this album to our exclusive featured album section located here:
