Thank you so much for sharing this, Sea Dog. I can just picture in my mind the scene you describe. What a beautiful place, and such a fitting tribute to a man that gave so much.
Lilli Marlene is one of my favorite songs from that time. So many songs from then can touch the heart like no other. |

I just wondered if anyone else is having trouble tuning in to listen lately. The last few days I keep getting this small grey box that says it has 'timed out'. I've been listening for months and never had this happen before. I have high speed internet cable and everything else regarding the comp & internet seems to be fine and moving along the same as normal. Sure would like to get this figured out. Today I can't seem to get tuned in at all.....keep getting the 'timed out' message, over and over again. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. |

~sighs happily with a smile on her face~ ....ahhhhhh, yes,......Mel, he is wonderful.
Though, I must admit Viggo Mortensen is right up there too! In agreement, 'Long Live King Aragorn!!' I'm hoping LOTR gets the Academy Awards it so deserves this time 'round.

QUOTE | I would like to know how yous picture yourself inside. It is part of a little private evaluation I'm making, for my own interest. I won't laugh if you'd promise me you don't laugh about me =)
|
I promise! Complicated is how I would see m'self. To picture it, I guess I could describe it as interwoven threads, that represent past experience and personality, going this way and that. Some have gotten blocked, knotted and re-routed over time....some never to pass that way again. Others must be fixed, a way must be found so that they may flow clearly again. I hope that makes some sense. happy - my grandmother's smile sad - the eyes of a person in pain, and the inability to help them anger - a bomb dropping mercilessly through the sky intelligence - ancient manuscripts peace - sitting at the top of a tall hill/mount, and seeing for miles |

QUOTE (Annabelle @ Nov 16 2003, 09:54 AM) | Hey I want to be on record here!
I'm a Christian...I believe in Jesus, Christ, Father in Heaven, Lord God and Master...all of those that describe the Big Guy Above...I'm a walk tall and speak softly Christian...show people instead of preaching.
there is only one thing I'm going to ask God for.
That is to hurt Eve for making it hurt so bad to have a baby. Then I'm going to ask God for my perfect body preferrably one without a big butt...
Annabelle |
*lol*..... I am with ye on that baby thing....ouch!!
I agree whole heartedly with ye, Annabelle. Actions speak louder than words.

....love this post, Barddas. It's like stepping back in time to read songs such as 'Ye Jacobites by Name'. It gives ye a great sense of what people were feeling and thinking at the time. Looking forward to reading more lyrics. |

QUOTE | I wonder if any other country has such an evocative musical instrument? Whether it is happy or sad, the pipes are always so appropriate! |
I agree. They have a special place in my heart. We decided to bundle up the wee ones and head out for our cities Rememberance Day ceremony this year, instead of watching it on the TV. It was wonderful! Our neighbor plays in the Provincial Regiment pipe band which played throughout the ceremony. They played 'The Flo'ers o the Forest' .....and it was so nice to think of the words ye shared with us, as they did. |

Thanks for the warning Angel Whitefang!!
I'm still having a bit of a problem tuning into the music.....seems to take forever to load and then I get a small grey box that says 'connection timed out'. I think it's probably my computer though..... it's either in need of a tune up or a date with the snow bank. |

......oh, that is an oldy but a goody Maggie!!
We went and saw 'Kill Bill' last week.....it was, well......different! I didn't know that the movie was split into two parts. By the time the last fight scene came and went on, and on and on....I was getting suspicious. The special effects were very good!
Can't wait for 'Return of the King'!! |

....basically the focus of it was what they call 'responsible' travel. I just thought it was a neat idea, not only can it be a lot cheaper to go to these places because it is kind of a working holiday....but ye get to help out the community, the environment and learn a lot too. Spend a week helping to restore a historical building in Ireland or Scotland......I'm there! |

Came across this site when I was doing a wee bit of snoop'n for holiday ideas. Not that we can afford a trip cross the pond yet....but ye can always plan for some day.
This really caught my attention as an interesting way to spend a holiday. It's one thing to go and stand in line and do all the 'touristy' things....but another to go to a place ye love and actually help out and learn about it.
I was wondering if anyone has heard of these types of holidays or gone on one? I can imagine, depending on the type of one ye chose....it could mean a lot of physical work.
