Will this be one
Of Peace and Joy
Or one of Strife
And Sorrow?
Tis hard to know
For the New Year but
Starts upon the morrow.
What have we learned
We can all ask about
The year just passed
Not much I'd say
It seems to me
The World has learned
But naught for Want
And Fear and Hunger
Are still so manys' lot
This time each year
We all avow to
End the suffering
And shortly hence
We all forget for
Want of other things
Many Children that are
Born this year
May live or they may die
Of Sickness and of Hunger
And the World sits
Idly by.
Oh we'll watch the news
And shake our heads
And ask our Gods the Why
But will we say
Enough's Enough
There is no need of this
For who will rise
And take a stance to
Fight these wretched foes
Of War and Fear and Hunger
And put an end to Woe.

Your words cannot be more true than that my friend.

But mankind is what it is...all kind of promises that no one cares to honor...how many of us that during the holiday season promise this and that but to finally just die with the wind...mankind will always be the same...you know for you read history and suffering has been here on this Earth since men walked on it...

Men and their greed brought poverty and suffering into this world...

It is up to each of us and at least try to help each other...that's a start.

Great poem my friend,

Great poem and all too true but not complete. For these things come and it is bad but not the end. For there must be hope and dreams. Though war rages on and hunger and suffering abound, hope can and must live. Even in the hardest places and times there are a few angels, a few who have kindness and love, a few who care for others. A few can bring hope and peace to a troubled people and land.
May this new year bring hope.
May this new year bring peace to troubled lands.
Let us be the ones to bring joy and love and kindness to the troubled.
Keep your dreams alive
for in dreams all things are possible
in hope there is life eternal

Hope does spring eternal and who knows the day may come when mankind will look back and wonder what took so long.
