I'm new to Celtic Radio.net and live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I'm not sure I'm posting this message in the right place, but oh well.
I'm a huge fan of Lunasa and play a lot of Celtic music on guitar, especially in alternate DADGAD tuning.
What are some of your favorite Celtic bands?

Hi kholmes and welcome to CR....not too many months ago I was a newbie here. Yep, you've found the right place...the music here is the best...if you can't find it here...get in touch with Macfive...maybe he can find it! There really are so many wonderful people here & you've asked a loaded question....I've my own favorites like Runrig, Charlie Zahm, Clan An Drumma, The Bards, Wicked Tinkers, BarleyJuice the list goes on & on but am always open to someone or something new. There are some great independent artists here & from different places in the world. So look around, you can even request songs from your own favs. You'll make many friends & there are many fellow muscians here as well so once again...welcome!

Welcome! I'm fairly new to modern Celtic groups, myself, though Clann an Drumma is my favorite. Hope you'll enjoy yourself here and find a new home away from home. As the current Gaelic quote states:

Seachnaidh duin? a bhràthair, ach cha sheachain e choimh-earsnach.
A man may do without a brother, but not without a neighbour.

Welcome, neighbor!

Hi Ken, and welcome to CelticRadio!

Gee, where do I begin? I guess I'll just give you some of my absolute fav's in celtic music. Not in order mind you but:

Gaelic Storm
Altan
Banshee in the Kitchen
The House Band
Wicked Tinkers
The Chieftains
Loreenna McKennitt
Celtic Fiddle Festival
and of course...Lunasa!

I also play guitar, and that alternate tuning of DADGAD I have referred to as Bensusan tuning. One of my favorite's in that tuning style is by Stephen Stills--Treetop Flyer. I have been attempting it lately, but still have a way to go since I don't read music.

Nice to meet you, and I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay!

The peculiar evil of silencing the expression of an opinion is, that it is robbing the human race; posterity as well as the existing generation; those who dissent from the opinion, still more than those who hold it. If the opinion is right, they are deprived of the opportunity of exchanging error for truth: if wrong, they lose, what is almost as great a benefit, the clearer perception and livelier impression of truth, produced by its collision with error. ~John Stuart Mill, On Liberty, 1859
