A friend of mine recently gave me a collection of several CD's, most of which are entitled "Christmas in Ireland" or to the same effect. I have to wonder what Ave Maria and Panis Agelicus are doing on these CD's. I realize that they are in Latin, yes, and that Latin was introdused to Ireland long ago, but aren't there any carols that actually originated in Ireland?
