QUOTE (Annabelle @ Jan 4 2004, 10:20 PM)
What type of vessels?

Annebelle,
I was on AFS-6 and USS America CV66 (www.ussamerica.org). When I was on the AFS, we saw Naples a lot.

Kicking back a few with 'Wild' Bill Guarnere is a hoot!  We are hoping Major Winters stops by like he did last year (which I missed! sad.gif ).

Seawarrior the CV66 is a very impressive class ship. Hubby was the last officer ordered aboard an old CVA class before it was decommissioned. It is sad to watch them scrape a ship and put into mothballs. Like an era gone by. Hubby would give eye teeth to go tour the USS Ronald Reagan. Maybe one day.

Seawarrior,

If you have a copy of the Ambrose book, contact me off list. If you send it to me I will take it and get it signed for you. I was supposed to go to Europe for the premier, but I couldn't get off work. My buddy went and got some great photos and stories. The last time I was in England, I spent the night in Aldbourne, where the 506th was based during training for the jump. The Blue Boar pub still has some memorabilia on the wall. Great ale, too!
