Richard is in my prayers every day. He has a lot of health problems and needs any support he can get. He would never ask our Creator for himself, so let's do it for him.

Thanks for letting us know about this. We will definitely keep Richard before the Lord. Keep us posted at to any pertinent information.

It's funny, but Richard's been on my mind so much lately because we haven't heard from him for a while. Now I know why, and I wish the reason had just been because he's been out there enjoying the river, the peace, and the fish.

Of course I'm praying for him now, too! May He give him the strength he needs to be well again! Elspeth, please let him know how much we miss him.

Thanks for letting us know,

I would like to take the time and Thank Everyone of you for your Prayers.

I would like to Thank Sis E. (Elspeth for those who do not know) for starting this Thread.

For Sis G. (Gabby for those who do not know) for letting me know of this Thread and she is correct that I would not ask for this myself, it is not in my Belief.

And to all my Wonderful Friends who I have had many of conversations with through here and/or in person. There was maybe one or two who I do not know but I want to Thank you anyway.

To let you in on some of my news. I do have a wonderful Team at Ohio State University Hospital. I will be visiting the Transplant Division this Tuesday to get to know all of them and find out everything I need to do.

I haven't given up on my Flyfishing even though I was out only 5 times this year. But I am teaching a young lady (15 years of age) and a young boy (10 years of age) the fundamentals of Flyfishing, Fly Tying and History of Flyfishing. I think that the young people need to learn these things for the future so that they may enjoy Nature more than to be stuck inside either watching TV or playing Video Games all the time.

On the lighter side the People who needs the Prayers the most are the ones who use Dial-up Internet. I know when I get on the Internet, I can usually play 2 games of Solitaire between screens. I just had to put something onery in here. wink.gif

But really I do want to Thank all of you for your support.
Sir Richard, The Onery cool.gif

Good Heavens. Talk about guilt for staying away for so long. Richard, you and your situation are very much in my thoughts now. I had no idea you were unwell, let alone talking transplants.

I'll be checking this thread often, as I would like to hear any news on this battle.

I am glad to hear your teaching the art of fly-fishing. If you can still tie flys you ought to sell them to your sporting goods stores.. I couldn't believe the cost of flys...and its winter....lol

You take care ok I will be back to check on you...hang in there... smile.gif

Posted by: Dreamer1 02-Jan-2007, 08:02 PM
I'm here, too, Richard. Thinking of you every day and praying for your recovery.

I like Rindy's idea, too. The pics you've posted of the flies you've made are wonderful -- bet they'd sell well! It's definitely something to look into wink.gif

Take care of yourself!

Posted by: Richard Bercot 09-Jan-2007, 02:48 AM
Again, Thank again Everyone.

As far as an update, there is not much to really tell at this time, other that I have "Officially" been place on the "Active deceased donor waiting list".

I have been told it could be from any time to years. So all I can do is wait. sad.gif

As far a selling my Flies. There is a market out there however I can only tie what my hands would allow and that is only one or two flies a day, and if I can do it then, it take me anywhere from half an hour to two days to tie just one. When I would be able to tie them, the most I could hopefully get would be anywhere from $1 or $2 per fly. Personally I have not tied on in two months, my tremors has been so bad lately that anything I do is a major accomplishment. So what I wind up doing is giving them away. My one Doctors is just starting to learn to Flyfish and I will be giving her a dozen and a half this Friday when I see her. I would much rather make someone happy then to make money off of them. That is how I have always been and it is kind of hard to change now. wink.gif You know, "Can't teach an O'le dog new tricks".

I will try not to stay away so long next time. It is good to see that some of my O'le Friends are still here.

Your Most Humble Servant,
Richard cool.gif

It's great to hear from you, Richard. And good to see you're upbeat. Stay busy, and tie on. I'm sure your gift will be appreciated by the doctor. The world is short on humility, and you're a giant. thumbs_up.gif

Posted by: maisky 09-Jan-2007, 08:31 AM
Good thinking, Sir Richard. You want the doctor to be a HAPPY doctor. Im sorry the tremors are limiting your activity. Maybe you should switch to bait and "jig" fish? At least that will put the tremors to good use. tongue.gif

We all hope you get better soon, my friend. You still owe us a trip to Janeymae's "cabin". thumbs_up.gif

Hello Richard,
Thank you for the update. Sorry the tremors are that bad. Should of had you figured as a giver and that is so nice of you...

I heard from Richard this week and I think he could use some more prayers thoughts and wishes.

He has some things going on that are creating a great deal of stress for him, something that can't be doing his health issues any good.

Please pray all goes well later this month so he can be relieved of this stress.

Gaberlunzie, how is Richard? Were you able to talk to him? I really hope things have improved for him, and continue to hope that he will get what he needs to recover his health. He's always in my thoughts.

Posted by: gaberlunzie 13-Apr-2007, 04:41 PM
Elspeth talked to him and she says they had a good old chat and Richard was a real Sir Ornery.
I got an email and what I can tell is that he's still struggling with ups and downs, he has good and bad days. It's very hard to keep the spirit up, you know.
So please don't stop pulling for him; he still needs any support he can get.
I know how much it means to him to know that so many people are upholding him in thoughts and prayers. All I can say is "thank you" and this is exactly what he feels and all who love him, too.

Richard
I am new here and do not know you yet but I know what others are saying. I have been welcomed here as family and you are family too. I am multiply handicapped and understand many of the feelings and things you must be going through. I get to go fishing once in a while with a bamboo pole. Take each day one at a time. Trust in the Lord. We will keep you always in our thoughts and prayers. I will ask our little angel Jean-Thomas to come visit and be with you. He will come and bring you rainbows to brighten your day. If you feel up to it, go to celtic hearts and there you will find Little Saturday Warrior. That is Jean-Thomas. No matter how bad things get he says if you can find one spark of beauty or one beam of sunlight or see the rainbow it is a good day.
You are in our thoughts and prayers always. When the bad days come try to remember the good day and think happy thoughts. Look for beauty and peace in the day. Even on a cloudy day rainbows can be found by one who looks for them.

As gabby said, I talked to Richard Thursday and he DEFINATELY was Sir Richard the Ornery!

We had a good long chat and it was good to hear him so chipper.

As gabby said as well, he does still struggle with the ups and downs.

But there is a great deal of fight still left in our ornery fish. biggrin.gif Which is good since he has some battles to fight.

So, keep our Ornery friend, his wife and his little faithful dog in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I know I haven't been here much lately and won't promise anything either.

As for an update. Not much has changed. Last Friday my Doctor pulled my Driving Privileges which does not help the frame of mind but I do understand why. I am going to be getting help with my stress and depression this Friday.

Sis E., and Sis G. has been checking up on me quite a bit and they keep me up to date on most things here. (Important things anyhow) It is not always easy for me to talk about all of this plus I really don't always know what to say.

Maisky, So your Wife wants a New Boat! If my Wife ever said anything like that to me, I would probably have a Stroke on the spot. I was shocked enough when she told me she would take me to the River so that I may Flyfish for my Trout. Which I just caught my first Trout this year last Thursday, my second time out this year. The Last of course being my Birthday. No fish but at least I got out there.

Rebecca Ann, Thank you for your wishes of Rainbows. Question, does that mean the Trout Variety? wink.gif For that would surely put a Large Smile on my face.

Maggie, Currently I am out of riddles but later when things are looking up I have some more information I would love to share in the Irish Thread. I recently obtained a book called "Treasurery of Irish Folklore" by Padraic Colum a 1954 edition. A lot of history in this book and should be considered as required reading.

Dreamer 1, Rindy, Sister Knight, Haynes 9 and countless others who are wishing for my best. I think about all you guys and gals too and miss very much being here on a regular basis as I used too.

As for me keeping up with my Ornery self. I usually keep my Doctors and Nurses in stitches. I alway keep them guessing what is going to come out of me next. But I never want anyone feeling sorry for me. Just think of me as well and Creator will see that and if he sees me well then I will be.

My Love for all who is here and my best for them too.
Tapalot peh,
Richard

So sorry to hear about what your doctor told you about driving. That is a hard thing. My father had to give up his vehicle and he lives alone but he is 87.
That was so nice of your wife to take you fishing. You know fishing is good for the soul....lol..... My thoughts and prayers are with you all thanks for keeping us updated.

Now go catch the BIG ONE!!!!

/me tells all the rainbow trout of some great spawning grounds up in Richard's neck of the woods.

Posted by: Rebecca Ann 26-Apr-2007, 05:09 PM
Hi Richard
Try to keep your spirits up. "Rebecca Ann, Thank you for your wishes of Rainbows. Question, does that mean the Trout Variety?" I wish you Heaven's rainbows. The good Lord created the rainbow trout and if these bring you joy than may you have many. Heaven's rainbows are wherever you can find them. Jean-Thomas is our little angel. He sends us rainbows most everyday. But the best are those that come on dark days. Rainbows may come in many forms. It may be a light through your window, a boquet of flowers or a rainbow trout. The rainbows I wish for you are the things that bring joy and hope into your life. They are Heaven's beauties that help to lift your spirits.
Maybe someday we can meet and you will take me fishing. I can't fly fish but I have a nice bamboo pole. It is simple but catches plenty of good fish for supper over on open fire on a warm summer night.

This is just an update for all of you who are pulling for Richard. I had a long phone call with him yesterday night. He is doing quite well. Still there are good days and bad days but he is taking new meds now that help a bit. Not every day but all in all it's better than without them.
He is still waiting for a transplant and he still needs a lot of rest.
But we had a nice talk, chatting, laughing, joking, him pulling my leg again; oh, he was a real "Sir Ornery" again!

tongue.gif biggrin.gif

His modem broke so right now he has no possiblity to be online. But I will pass all wished and greetings to him next time I'll be phoning him.

So please, don't quit upholding him in thoughts and prayers. Thank you for being there.

Thanks to everyone who has said a prayer for Richard! He has started some new medication that helps his liver work. He will continue to stay on the liver transplant list for the time being. He has had to give up his driving license cause his body becomes immoveable suddenly and can't react to driving conditions so his fishing has become less and less. He is doing really well and his spirits are high. He is staying positive and that is half of the battle!

Thanks for everyone's kind support of Richard and keep it up!

I wished there was a word much stronger but all I can say is "Thank you!" smile.gif

Thanks for keeping us posted, Gabby! Please continue to do so, ok?

Thank you for all of your Prayers.

As Sis A, Sis E and Sis G have said I have my good day and bad day.

No I did not get my Modem fixed but I was able to get Cable Internet, Cable TV and Cable Telephone all for the same price I was paying for just the Telephone and Dial-up Internet. So I jumped on it. No more playing 6 or 7 hands of solitaire between pages. YEAH!!!

Most of my problems now are Fatigue. It is either Feast or Famine when it comes to sleeping. Just Monday I slept for over 24 straight hours. Since then I have had 2 hours of sleep. So if my words sounds a little jumbled up please forgive me.

As some of you know I am one of the Owners of Zane Shawnee Caverns. I have been spending most of my weekends up there camping and no not the roughing time. While there is some roughing to is as in no Computer. A friend of mine gave me one of his mobil camper with everything in it including air conditioning. They won't let me do anything all they ask for is my presence to keep everybody in line. I am know there as Marshall which is equivalent to Sir Ornery.

Well I am going to stop now. My brain is starting to drag a bit. But at least I am able to get back in here and start posting again. I won't be long and the weather will be to bad for me to get out.

Tapalot peh,
Sir Richard, the Ornery cool.gif
