I wear a kilt for two reasons:

1. I reenact a private soldier of the 42nd RHR during the early part of the American Revolution. The kilt was demonstrably a part of their uniform. See the photo of me in my profile.

2. At other times, I just enjoy the feel of wearing a modern kilt. I am primarily Irish and English in extraction, with no discernable Scottish ancestry. I just enjoy the option of wearing a piece of apparel that is comfortable and, let's face it, different.

I don't need to be of Scottish ancestry to wear a kilt, anymore than a Scot would have to prove his lineage from an American cowboy or gold miner to wear blue jeans. I just like to wear it.

And by the way, a good kilt pin will help with those windy days.

Often my wife will ask me to wear my kilt to some function or other, like to the symphony or such. She says that I wear a kilt well. All she has ever said about my other clothing choices is "Don't dress like a street urchin!" Must be something about a guy in a skirt!

I have great respect for the followers of any religion, and I love all people, and the "sanctity" of anyones belief....If I get an inkling that a person is adding a comment because they think that the religion is hollywood cool, I will question them.
