Yes, Christmas came early for me. Simply because Ange wanted to get me photography equipment, but was afraid she'd buy the wrong thing. So she got me to find it for myself on Ebay.

I just won an auction about five minutes ago, and Christmas can't come early enough now. w00t2.gif

It's a Minolta XG-9, and comes with a Vivitar f3.5-4.5 28-85mm Macro zoom lens, a Mitsuki f4 80-200mm zoom lens, both with their own skylight filters, front and rear caps, a Sakar 29MZ articulating flash, case for camera and Mitsuki lens, and even the original XG-9 user manual.

Here are some pics, and the http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=15237&item=3852700935&rd=1

I'm giving my little sister (ok, so she's 22, but still liddle) the XG-1 and 1:50 lens with Vivitar flash.

*flies around the room for a while, bouncing off walls*

Oh, yeah. It cost $72.22 CAN + shipping, and is coming from North Hampshire, England.

Nice rig, but wouldn't you like the rig that took those pictures? Wow. biggrin.gif

I have no doubt that it'll be just as good. smile.gif Well, the shipping costs almost as much as the camera. sad.gif But for $142, it's still a steal, when you consider the cost of this much equipment from a local photography store.

The worst thing now, is she's making me wait until Christmas day to get it. I do expect to have gone insane by then. laugh.gif

Wow, it's a classic. smile.gif Nice job. Merry Christmas, OR!

Merry Christmas to you too, Avonlea. smile.gif If I could ever advise anyone looking to buy a camera of any kind, I'd aim them at ebay. If you can handle owning something previously used, I see no reason to waste money on new. And these are even cheaper than used equipment found in camera stores.

OR ! Really really nice equipment! I am so happy for you!

However, I am excited too because of you I was able to win a Canon AE-1 Flash attachment that you directed me too for my camera!! I am really excited to get it soon! Thank you so much, OR! That will be my Christmas gift from hubby!

Nice setup oldraven. Merry Christmas early. Last year I go a Canon 3.2 mega pixels it is a lot different from what I was used to. I had a Olympus Infinity Zoom 35 that I dropped during a martial arts event and it just shattered. I am still trying to figure out the sound on my new one and I am not good at putting pics on the web etc. Anyhow happy shooting to ya! thumbs_up.gif

I feel so behind with all the new computer and photographic technologies out there. How can I cope? smile.gif I don't know...

I've been scouring the market for an affordable digital camera and all I've been able to find that suits my current budget is something in the range of $150. This isn't all that bad, mind you, I think the cam was like 2 megapixels or something to that effect.

I'd really like to get something with a bit more higher resolution (I think I'm using that term correctly when referring to megapixel amount) but I don't know where to start

Help me, please.

What's that saying? Go big or stay at home!

Go for the 8 pix's and spend $4-6K

You can't take it with you!

That would be ideal, Annabelle! smile.gif

If only I had a credit card...

[daydreams wildly]

Haldur, you're not going to find all that much as far as quality for less than $300 US, so $150 is probably good enough for most, but if you want high resolution, no. I wouldn't buy any less than 3mp. 5mp cameras are actually getting quite affordable now too. Just make sure it has a decent optical zoom, and ignore any mention of digital zoom. You can have both, but don't ever go by the digital zoom when purchasing a camera. smile.gif

Annabelle, sorry to have left you with no pics. Here are a couple. wink.gif

Big personality on such a little person. Her hands have a lot of presence too -- I wonder if she'd like to play a cello someday?

I think this cookie looks like her dad.

I can only take that as a compliment. laugh.gif And she'll be musical. There's no doubt of that. Too much music in her blood to be any other way.
