I just wandered in, indirectly through the Poxy Boggards web site. I've been listening to celtic music for quite a while, and now Im looking into learning to play the hand-drum, or maybe the fiddle. I just wanted to say "Hello" to everyone.

Lets see... maybe I can post a little more about myself. I've been listening to Irish music for about 15 years. I was first intoduced to it through the Thistle and Shamrock on PBS. I'd sit and listen to prairie Home Companion, and then T&S, on Saturday nights.

I do blacksmithing as a hobby. I'm fairly new at it, and I've recentlys set up a forge at home. It's a lot of fun and I'm hoping to eventually make it a part-time, after hours-sort of business. I also have a fairly complete metal shop in my garage. Recently I got a Bridgeport mill, in great condition. The garage is kind of a mess, and I haven't had a chance to power it up, though... I really enjoy working with metal. I'm a programmer, so it's nice to work on something more tangible.

I just bought a couple of inexpensive instruments, and I'm excited about learning to play them. I got a couple of tin whistles, a hand drum, and a violin. I'm most interested in the violin, but I'd like to fool around a while with the others and pick up the basics.

Welcome to the CelticRadio family, webnrrd2k!

I sure wish we got "Thistle & Shamrock" here in the Chicago area. Everyone says it's a good program. We do get "APHC" though.
