Since November has Thanksgiving I think we should use more than one day to appreciate those things.
I want us to have a place during the month of November when we think of things that have become special to you or that you appreciate... post them here and tell us what they are that are so special to you and why?

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Well. Even though Thanksgiving has come and gone, (Oct 13th up here), I'll indulge.

I'm thankfull for my health, my girl, my pup, my house, my car, my truck, and the love of my family. king.gif

I'm much grateful for all second chances in life, for all the interesting twists and turns on the life path so far, the fact that I can be around to make my Mother's life easier as she gets older, the fact that I discovered at age 50-some that I had a flock of half-brothers and half-sisters (Scottish father's second brood) I had no idea I was related to, the siblings I did grow up with, good friends that go back to childhood, newer good friends I met since then.....so many things to be both grateful and thankful....the list goes on longer than an Oscar acceptance speech!

And, of course, that after falling 4 stories while I was in The Army (1968) I'm even alive to tell about it, let alone get paid for it, surf and do all the outdoor stuff I've been up to since then!

......And I'm glad that so far the "luck" bag hasn't emptied before the "experience" bag has filled. Hope there's still some in the former and room in the latter!

I sincerely wish the same to all of you as we approach the Holiday season!

RON

When I was asked this question last week, I wrote a book on it. Of course I have all the usual things to be thankful for. A loving family, a roof over my head (and I don't have payments on it either to boot =) ), an education....

Also, right now I find myself in a situation that I hear people dreaming for all too often. I have money to be able to do things with if I want, and all the means to do whatever I want to, now if only I knew what that was. I have a grudge against Old Rome, keep that in mind as you read this analogy; If all roads lead to Rome, than I've got everything I need to go anywhere, I'm in Rome, and don't know which road to take, I'm kindof standing at that pillar marking where all roads converge, everything packed, with a dumb look on my face and wanting to get out of town.

Part if the trick is, I don't want to mess it up. I'm about to pay off the first loan I've ever had, and be completely out of debt again. I'm ready to make a big move in my personal life and don't know what I want it to be. I have employment, and like the environment I work in. But it's a dead end job and I know it. My question now is, "Where do I want to go from here?" I sure know I don't want to spend the rest of my career on the recieving end of a help-desk line no matter how much I like the environment I'm in and the people I work with, it will have to change eventually I guess

Same here, my sister! I have a cabin in the mountains that just sold and as soon as it clears escrow, I, too, will be completely out of debt for the first time in seven years. The place sold back in August but the deal fell through and I was lucky enough to get another offer before winter snows sit in up there in the Sierra so I'm chewing my fingernails that the deal goes through this time.....I can almost smell the air of financial freedom again, but won't believe it until the escrow check is in my hands!!!

As for your job, be happy that you have one and when the time comes and a better one comes along you'll be ready to jump on it because you can and not because you HAVE to find one to keep food on the table and the wolves away from the door.

Good luck and count your blessings!

Same here, my sister!

laugh.gif Take a closer look at Aaediwen, McHaggis. I see a Knight, not a Damsel.

As for financial freedom. Good on both of you. smile.gif I've still got two student loans, a car payment, and a mortgage. sad.gif It's a long way up to the tip of this gorge. Hey, at least my car and truck are payed off. It's just Angela's now. But, in all honesty, being only 24, I do count my blessings that I can at least get those loans, allong with the comfortable life they give.

Oh, Aaediwen, how I relate! After 13 years all of my kids are in school. I feel I have that same dumb look on my face as I look about me at all the road that are converging at my feet. Which path to take! I thought I knew until the time actually came.
Let me know when you lose that look, maybe I'll have lost mine by then as well. laugh.gif
