If I can remember way back then, It was the first time I skateboarded down our street which was very steep and made it the entire way. We had wooden skate boards then with aluminum wheels. By the time you got to the bottom your feet would be numb.
Mine would have to be when I was around 12 or so. At Christmastime, I would lay on the couch, with the lights turned on on the Christmas tree, the room lights off, a nice fire in the fireplace, and Christmas music playing on the stereo. That was tranquil, and always makes me smile.
I was nine years old. My dad took me to my first baseball game. The year was 1983. That was the year the White Sox were "Winnin' Ugly". They won a lot of games by two or less runs that year. The old Comiskey Park in Chicago. The White Sox were playing Detroit. It was a packed house on a warm summer night. I got to see a real rare treat. In the bottom of the 7th, Harold Baines became my idol and made me a White Sox fan for life by hitting a grand slam.

May the Irish hills caress you. May her lakes and rivers bless you. May the luck of the Irish enfold you. May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.
My favorite always involve reading or cooking, lol... There was a tree on the block where I grew up that I would go hide in in the summer and just read for hours...or in the winter, laying on the floor with my feet propped up over the fireplace....
Others all involve being in the kitchen with my Nana baking or just sitting at the table after school eating peanut butter and bananas...or cheese and crackers and playing cards....usually crazy 8s!
I guess your still a child when your 14 so...sneaking to a party and meeting my future husband who was then 22 years old. We didn't start dating until I was 17!
One day, when I was about 4 or 5 years old, we came home and saw a rather large box on the carport. My father, having just begun a new job in sales, thought that it was a box of samples and things related to his new job. Before talking the job, he taught English to pilots of our NATO allies. After about 10 days, dad finally decided that he should see what was in the box. When he opened it, there were about a dozen Tonka trucks inside! They were a gift from his German students, thanking him for the hospitality of he and my mother during their training. My brother and I were the envy of the block!

If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him keep pace with the music he hears, however measured or far away. -Henry David Thoreau

I must say these stories are such treasures. I think we can all relate to each others memories. I must say I once had a Nana also. She lived to be 98! The surroundings of what we remember seem to be so important. I can almost smell, taste and feel them. Lets hope we give on to our children what are familes gave to us, even better!
Sleepover birthday parties at my cousins' (one time for dinner, we had soup and popcorn) ...
This one house just north of the town where my Grandma, Uncle George & Aunt Liz live(d) that had a huge Mickey Mouse on it. My grandma & Uncle George are with Jesus now. My Aunt Liz still lives in that town, but I haven't been there in a while. The last time I was there was for my uncle's funeral.
My blanky (yes, I had a security blanket) ...
My parents taking my sister and I to Walt Disney World...
Watching Sesame Street, The Electric Company, Zoom and Mister Rogers' Neighborhood on Channel 11 (Chicago's PBS affiliate). The world lost one of its greatest people when Mister Rogers died.
I went to post this earlier today, but must not have hit the "Add Reply" button... When I was nine or ten, I took part in a football program called Pass, Punt and Kick. This was the first time I had ever done this. After I did my events, a buddy and I ran off to get some cokes. Upon returning, I asked my Dad how I did. He looked down to me and simply raised his index finger, signally first place! I will always have that image in my mind!
hmm, my childhood memories.. i remember one day i was playing with my friends in kindergarten when mom came to take me, & i was crying as if i knew that i will never see my friends again.. & so it was
