Just wanted to introduce myself briefly before I start lurking and soaking up info from this community.
My name is Kelly and I'm a married father of 3 in Raleigh, NC. I'm of Irish descent and my wife's ancestry is from Wales.
I've started (haltingly) trying to learn Gaelic several times (hence the "haltingly") and am trying once again. The lack of any local groups or speakers is a hindrance.
I'm a networking professional (routers, switches, VoIP, video, you name it) and also a helicopter pilot (working on my commercial license).
Looking forward to becoming familiar with the information and individuals populating this forum and community.
I understand what you mean about 'haltingly'. I spoke quite a bit of Gaelic when my grandparents were still around, but they've been gone almost longer than I can remember now and with no one to converse with...well...you get the idea. Though I can still understand it, I can't speak much anymore. So I too, am trying to relearn it.
Have fun here. They're a great group of people and a lot of fun.
Hello and welcome from Canada, Kelly There are a variety of interesting Forums, great music and of course tons of fantastic people Enjoy your stay here!!
Welcome to Celtic Radio Kelly. I hope you enjoy the music as well as the great people you'll find here on the forums. I think Gaelic is one of the most beautiful languages ever, although I think it's very difficult to learn. There's plenty to learn here on the forum good luck with it all.
