It is not often that we feature a major piece of news on the frontpage of our Celtic Radio News service, but let this be an acknowledgement and tribute to our perseverance and support to the 35,000 U.S., Afghan and International troops that will soon embark on the Battle for Kandahar.
Our prays and support are with them. As this article from ABC states, "The mammoth battle for Kandahar will test soldiers' basic fighting skills by combining tactics learned from the trenches of World War I, the close-quarter fighting of World War II, the jungle-like conditions of Vietnam and the urban warfare of Iraq."
Sounds like hell is going to be unleashed on both sides and we at Celtic Radio fully support our boys and girls that are laying their lives down for peace in Afghanstan, so there will never be another 911.
All of Canada's 150 dead have been in Kandahar. It is a stronghold of the Taliban and a very dangerous place to be. My thoughts are with all the NATO forces especially Canada and the US and I pray to the Creator for their victory in battle and their safe and speedy return.
Read a couple of articles in the Toronto Star and the Globe & Mail about the 82nd and 101st taking over a lot of area that we Cdns patrolled. Guess it is in preparation for our withdrawal a year from now. Also the articles reported that the R.O.E. (Kill Chain) has been changed making it easier to fire on suspected insurgents instead of waiting from permission from higher up. Had the same ridiculous crap in V.N. and it got a lot of us killed or wounded.
