Background: The name Moore is one of the leading surnames from the English speaking world. This is an english and an anglo-norman name and may not necessarily describe a nationality, but more of a nickname.

Needless to say, when I first realized that Moore was right behind Smith and Jones in popularity, I was disapointed! To be like my wife. Her surname is very rare: only 47 families in the entire USA.
From my understanding, the Moore's in my family came from Ireland (Galway).
