Insurance Companies.

Some of you might remember that I posted I was trying to rent a sailboat for one last sail around Lake Ontario. Well that idea just got torpedoed, sunk, blown out of the water.When one rents a boat one must buy Insurance and in order to get Insurance you fill out an application which contains a section on Health which must be completed by your Doctor. I took it to Peter my Doc. for 30 years and he filled it out including that I have had 2 Heartattacks in the past 6 years and guess what.
No Insurance. No Boat. Insurance companies, I really do despise the illigitimate sons of Beelzabub. Betcha their English, Lloyds of London or some affiliate.
Oh well I could always try swimming. Yeah OK.

Sorry to hear about that. I am waiting for them to tell me I am not healthy enough to drive. As I see it, I paid for others high risk when I was healthy. Now that my health has declined, I damn well expect others to assume a little of my risk!

Yeah! Talk about those S.O.Bs when we renewed our mortgage oh! I'd say about 7 years ago they asked us my husband and I to fill out this form too.
So since I'm an honest citizeness I declared that I was asthmatic and that I was taking Advair to control it.
Well!!! What do you think happened for being honest???
They insured my husband but not me!!!Why?
For the stupid reason that I was taking Advair for asthma.
I could not believe it, I was so enrage with them it's a good thing the jerk that I talked with was not in front of me otherwise he would have end up missing some teeth.

Now there, I feel much better talking about it.

I know that alot of people do not like Insurance Companies, but I would offer to think about Insurance in terms of "What if there was no Insurance Companies"?

Insurance Companies are our saftynet - for Health, Home, Car and Death. Think if you had to pay that neurologist $500 for that appointment and a possible MS diagnosis, or somesort of neuropathy or illness that could be prevented. Most HMO's just charge you a $20 co-payment. Add on to that a MRI or Catscan and suddenly you are talking about a certain big percentage of your yearly income.

And what if you are a working man or woman, with 3-4 kids to feed and you just so happen to be unlucky that day and get killed in an accident or suffer a stroke or heart attack. If you signed up for Group Insurance at your work, your family will receive a rather large death benefit to see them through 10-15 years of lost income while your children grow.

Or what about that drunk driver that careens into your brand new car and destroys it. With automobile insurance you are covered.

Insurance serves a very useful purpose in our society and with out it we certainly would be cooked if we had to pay these big bills ourselves.

Ok, just my 2 cents.

About that boat rental, I think the company that is renting your boat is maybe buying cheap insurance coverage. I've never heard of a boat rental company having you complete a form by your doctor to rent a boat!

Maybe your right about the boat rental company but the laws are different here in Canada and the they informed me that I had to have insurance or I couldn't rent.
I don't know they might be jerking me around but the hell with them I'll try to borrow a boat for a few days from a friend.

The hell with insurance.No wonder they are so rich.
Because they get peoples monies with the blasted saying:"What if?"

It is good to have insurance to some degree but in my eyes life insurance is the biggest ripoff of all.

I've not had very much luck with insurance companies. Sure they fixed my car a couple times when my wife takes out yet another deer but there were several times when they just wouldn't cover the problem or it came way too late. All four of my tires had been slashed but they woouldn't cover it. When my youngest totaled out my car it wsn't covered but I'll give them that one since he borrowed it woithout permission and didn't have a liscence to drive yet. The worse case was when my wife got sick. She was out of work for three months and we of course had our monthly bills to pay. Insurance and unemployment checks didn't show up untill the first week she was back to work. We ended up having to put a mortage on our house because of it. And I wonder what the rates for doctors, etc would be like without insurance around.

Medical rates would be a lot lower. The best MD I ever had retired at 47 due to the high cost of record keeping! He had two nurses and 5 office persons filing insurance and Medicare/Medicaid forms. His feeling was that he had become the manager of an accounting office, not a Medical Doctor. He teaches today at a Medical teaching school!

I know a lot of people in the insurance business (I consider none friends) and it is just that, a business driven by greed. Those with newer policies should look at their policy to insure that payment is not made with an annuity. Insurance proceeds are not taxable and if you are forced to accept an annuity, (probably with the company that sold you the policy) you are taking a substantial "investment" loss. The drunk that hits your auto, more likely than not has no license/insurance. My dealings personally and in my employment have been basically bad.
