Can anyone turn this snow off? After 60 and 70 degree temps this past week, we have a drastic change in our weather. We have about 6 inches of snow and it's still coming down. All the spring flowers and bushes are covered with the white stuff. Oh well, there are just some things that we can't control! Everyone have a good day!
Maggie, I guess this isn't the time to tell you that we are having a beautiful mothers day, the sun is shining and all the daffs are out. Mind you I don't think I can compete with your balmy temperatures.(even in summer!!!). The snow is lovely to watch though. Keep warm, Jules

I'd love to have real snow I live in the only region in germany where it is raining constantly!!
*sigh* enjoy it.. although you may not like it!
Rain? UGH!
For my truck driver's training course, I stood outside all day Friday & got cold & wet. When I came home, the first order of business was to get out of the wet clothes and into the shower to warm up. I've been taking aspirin and drinking juices to try to minimize the chances of getting a cold.
BTW, only 14 more posts for me until the 500 milestone, so I should reach it by the end of the week .

May the Irish hills caress you. May her lakes and rivers bless you. May the luck of the Irish enfold you. May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.
I hope you don't catch a cold, MDF. I take vitamin C daily and I haven't had a cold all winter. So how are you doing with your truck driving course? Are you about finished with it and ready to hit the road? Remember if your ever down this way Maggie's Kitchen is open for coffee and conversation. If your real nice I might even whip up some fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy and my buttermilk biscuits. I'll fix it southern style and not worry about the fat grams. Yummy!!!!
tartangal, are you talking about Mother's Day honoring mother's or is this another kind of holiday for Scotland? We have Mother's Day honoring mother's in May. I love that day, my daughters always brings me cards that make me cry. I am so sentimental. I believe the older I get the more I blubber and carry on.
Aon, If I could I would share some of this snow with you. Right now, we have 9 inches and it is still snowing.
I want snow too! *jumps up and down* Well we had nice enough weather here lately (not too much rain compared to the usual amount) but that means the polls are flying (I hate spring! I love autumn wenn all those mean plants get what they should!).. i'm already taking all this anti-allergic stuff but I still get sneezing attacks when I go outside. And that's worse that any cold!
My nose bled again today only because I have to sneeze all the time! *grrr*
Hot Toddy...is that hot whiskey w/ honey? I can't remember....but I know it's a southern thing...I think
I suppose it could be a southern drink. I know alot of southerns who dip in the whisky barrel. Here is a recipe that I got off of ...allrecipes.com.
1 teaspoon honey 2 fluid ounces boiling water 1 1/2 ounces whiskey 3 whole cloves 1 slice lemon 1 pinch ground nutmeg Pour honey, water and whiskey into a mug. Spice it with cloves and cinnamon, and put in the slice of lemon. Let stand 5 minutes so flavors can mingle, then sprinkle with a pinch of nutmug before drinking.

No, I didn't catch a cold. I tried to stay warm by walking around and drinking coffee. I'm taking it at a college in Chicago Heights, and right near us on the school's property, there is a health club that is run by the Chicago Heights Park District. Inside, they have a café where you can get soup, coffee and really good sandwiches for a very reasonable price. Anyway, I also stopped on the way home and got a hot cocoa (what I call hot chocolate made with water-real hot chocolate is made with milk), and took a shower when I got home.
Maggie, learning to drive a truck is like learning to speak a foreign language. It gets easier as you get all the nuances down, but getting the nuances down is hard. For one thing, you have to make sure that the tractor and trailer are operable, so you have to learn a lot of parts and what their function is. You have to make sure that essential parts are not cracked, bent, broken or leaking.
In terms of getting a job, only one company, Werner, has contacted me back and that was to verify some information I put on the application.
I hope your fried chicken is as good as my Aunt Irene's!
Sunday we had about 10 inches or snow or more and today (Tue.) it was a nice 68 degrees and all that white stuff has melted, vamoosed, gone or whatever. I can see the pretty spring flowers once again! Yeah!!! Spring is back!!!
