I don't make new year's resolutions. However, I do take the time to think about where I am, and what I hope to accomplish during the upcoming year. But the fastest way for me to not get something accomplished is to make it a requirement to get it done.
I'm just rebellious like that...even with my own rules.
Nope. Never. Actually, for me, it is a futile excercise, as I will always end up breaking it through sheer lack of willpower.
As I have said before, I have enough guilt from my daily life as a Catholic, that I don't need to add the guilt of breaking a new year's resolution too.
Just my tuppence.

I used to make them, but I would always break them. So I quit. Don't need any extra guilt. Already have enough.

Even though I do not like making any New Years Risolutions. I decided to make one this year and that is to go fishing more than I did last year. Like and Old Doctor who was a Friend of mine who has since passed told me "For everyday you fish, you live another day."

May your days be filled with Merriment and May you walk in Balance with Creator.
I made a resolution to get back on the exercise bike. I was doing good for a while, but then our old one broke and we had to get a new one. The old one just happened to break right around the holidays, and with all those sinful little goodies we had, I can tell I've put some weight back on.
BTW, just to add something to this discussion, what was the last New Years resolution you made that you followed through on?
Myself, it was three years ago when I told myself that it was gonna be the year to quit smoking. Three years later, I am tobacco-free. I used the nicotine patch to wean myself off of the tobacco, and chewed a lot of sugarless gum to take care of the oral satisfaction (had to choose my words carefully there ).

I'm proud of ya, Mike. Tobacco is a very unhealthy habit and expensive. I had a friend who was a smoker. She got cancer and was on oxygen. Poor woman had the habit so bad she took her oxygen off to smoke. I miss her dearly. Need I say more!

Unlike most people, I didn't quit for health reasons. I quit because it was getting too expensive, even in Indiana (which is where I bought my smokes-it was cheaper there than in Illinois). If my memory serves me correctly, the last I paid for a carton of cigarettes was about $30 .
I've made three this year. It just seemed like a good time to regroup and start out again fresh.
1 - I am going to try and get at least seven hours of sleep a night 2 - I am going to eat more vegetables, drink more water and excercise more 3 - 2004 is the year I will be published.
Check back with me in a year to see how I did...........
