The basic dough is just made out of flour, oil, water and a pinch of salt. Make a smooth dough and roll it out as flat as possible (best directly on the bakingtray). You bake it in a very hot oven for 5-10 minutes until the dough is crispy and the topping is bubbling. Now, to the toppings: you can put almost everything on it... Okay, you rolled out your dough: spread crème double (that's similar to crème fraîche) or crème fraîche on it. The traditional one has a topping of: diced bacon, onion rings, leek rings and grated cheese (not too much!). Varieties I tried and thought were really really tasty (always a wee bit cheese drizzled on top): Leek + Smoked salmon Onions + bacon + mushroom slices peppers + spring onions + salami stripes thin sliced potatoes Sauerkraut + bacon (without cheese though) carrots and sweet: pears + cognac apple + cinnamon + calvados.. |
