Regarding
the Mosque being built near ground zero. I say let them build it. But
then, across the street we should put a topless bar called " You Mecca
Me Hot" and next to that a gay bar called "The Turban Cowboy" and next
to that a Pork Rib restaurant called "Iraq-O-Ribs" and next to that a
... check cashing place called "Iran out of Money" then we'll see who's
tolerant.

QUOTE (Patch @ 25-Oct-2010, 01:59 AM)
It has been reputed that Williams got a better contract with Fox than he had at NPR and with no restrictions too! NPR's action gave Williams more celebrity than he had pre termination thus increases his viewers share on Fox.

With all of their "money," NPR can not come close to topping Limbaugh, O'Riley Hannity and Beck for audience share.

Federal support pales in comparison to state funding and the states that provide the most are in the greatest financial peril now so that is not a reliable source of money either. The worst outcome will be the legislative debate and media coverage that will take place even if the funding remains in place.

publicly this termination now seems to be perceived as being racial and that does not sit well in even the most left leaning states. Thus, it will be interesting to watch as it continues to develop.

This election was not a a good time for this to happen as it relates to preception of D candidates.

Calling someone a bigot is a pretty strong statement. That should definitely result in somesort of punishment. Please notify me if someone does this as we don't always have the time to monitor everything on the board.

I received alot of messages today that people are worried about past posts. We are not reviewing those and like I said 99% of the people here have nothing to worry about.

Thanks again for everyone's help in all of this and hopefully the politics forum will return to a balance debate of the issues. Whats that they say "Fair and Balanced" biggrin.gif

I did notify admin but was told as the board warns, "enter at your own risk". The person who refered to me a as bigot hasn't posted in a long time.

Actually this was long over due. I was called a "bigot" in the past for making an observation as well as being accused of possibly causing a "hate crime". All for simply stating a fact.

I read the post in question that possibly caused this to happen.

Under Ohio's Castle Doctrine law, if someone unlawfully enters an occupied home or temporary habitation, or occupied car, citizens have an initial presumption that they may act in self defense, and will not be second guessed by the State.

This one worked out well for the occupant of the home but not the criminal!

There should be more news later

QUOTE (MDF3530 @ 26-May-2010, 09:46 PM)
Oh my God. You are just being deliberately ignorant.

Islam did not fly those planes into the WTC on 9/11.

It was a terrorist organization called al-Quaeda, run by Osama bin Laden, that did. The hijackers were Muslim, but that most likely had little, if anything, to do with it.

There are extremists in any organized religion, such as the fringe Christian wackos who murder abortion doctors "in the name of God". More often than not, they're extremists who happen to belong to a certain religion or faith.

Your quote mimics someone who, God forbid doesn't want to offend Islam. No. Islam itself didn't fly those planes into the WTC on 911. But it was done by Muslims. Yes there are Christian extremist who threaten abortion instutions but to make that compairson is ignorant. Muslem extremist far out number any Christian extremist in the realm we are discussing, ie. suicide bombers, al-Quaeda and other groups. You sound like you are trying to make Christian extremist sound like they are just as prevalent and as dangerious as al-Quaeda as our President aka "the GREAT ONE" seems to think and wants everyone to believe.

Thank you for your post Stoirmeil. I thought that Freud quote was a bit ridiculous. For those who don't know, Stoirmeil teaches psychology at the university level.

So. That means NOTHING to me. Not putting down anyone who is a professor at a university. It can be a long hard road to get to that position. It's also not the easiest job nor the best paid job. However, I'll never take a side based on someones credentials. Just because someone is highly educated doesn't mean they are all knowing and ONLY their advice, opinion or decision matters more then others who are of lesser education.

The group said in their letter that the governors would be removed "in three days". I'd say that eliminates elections from their intentions. Elections are how the system works. These folks are saying that they won't use the system but will go around it. The question is just waht are they planning.

So you do agree that ads that were by "Move on.org" and other ant-GOP groups were radical as well right? wink.gif

Ok. So you are then trying to say that your current administration is capable of annexing Canada for its resources, but the last one wasn't? And if this government was impeached, the next wouldn't be just as capable? What's your point? What's your goal, with this threat? Is this before or after they turn the entire US into a Socialist Republic? Has the big bad black man started growing his horns yet? Get a grip is right.

You are saying the US of the past, the one you ally yourself with (and you can't deny that), is perfectly capable of justifying taking over Canada for its resources. So which is it, Patch? Do you want to see this old US come back, the one capable of committing those atrocities, or are you distancing yourself from the old US' 'Manifest Destiny'? Is the Obama government about to fall back into the old ways of the US history, or is it leaving it behind? I find it hard to see what you're getting at here. Unless, of course, you're just some old troll who likes to cause a controversy. Come on, man. You opened the can of worms. I'm the left, most of the time (politics in Canada isn't so ridiculously polar that we can't see the errors of those we voted for last time), and this is a moment where if we were to meet face to face, it may have already turned violent. That's the Canadian in me, not the 'lefty' or 'liberal'.

Politics and Religion are far different. You never hear nasty talk like this in the grove, or any other religious threads on this site. It gets truly ugly in here, and if things ever got this hot elsewhere in the community, it would be shut down, and those involved would either be warned or booted.

I'm courious. Who ever said the USA will annex Canada? I never did. I'd NEVER want to see it happen. There are those in Canada and the USA who would like to see a European type union which I'm VERY opposed to. Then there are those who think Canada should join up with the EU. As far as invasion? I've NEVER heard any such thing. Like I said before. The USA is the USA and Canada is Canada. LEAVE IT AS IT IS!

I left this forum because of all the topics I commented on in this community, it was only these that left me angry and depressed. Maybe you should step out for a bit. My time here since has been wholly pleasant, up until this moment.

I'm not a violent man, but I'm not a pacifist. If you, personally, stepped across our border with the intent to take the Nation, I would shoot you cold myself, and not feel a moments remorse. We're no cowards. Just not eager to kill.

In reply, if Canada ever tried to step across our border, many of my cousins, and good friends, would become my sworn enemies. I love Canada but Canada is Canada, and the USA is the USA. Nova Scotia is in my blood but I am and AMERICAN first and formost.

I too am disgusted with this forum. I post a tidbit or two here or there but for the most part I just look and laugh at the bias from BOTH sides.

NovaScotian,
Yes our Medical Care is paid for by taxes mostly by Companies and Corporations
they pay the biggest part. When Health Care first started here in Ontario Families paid $90. every three months then it was shifted over to payrole deductions with the employer paying a part depending on how many employess there were. Finally it was shifted to Employers only paying and it's been that way ever since. It's free in the sense that I don't have to dig into my pocket when I go the the Doc or Hospital because I have paid already in my taxes. There is no deductable like with insurance companies. There is one payer and one payer only the Gov. If my head falls off it gets glued back on no charge for the super glue.

QUOTE (Camac @ 22-Mar-2010, 06:34 PM)
Jillian

To begin with Danny Williams is an embarrassment to Canada. He is independently wealthy, the Premier of Newfoundland/Labrador and should be horse whipped. Enough on that. I will repeat that I am not a Soccialist but do agreew ith the social safety nets that have been put in place in Canada over the years. Having free Medical takes a big worry off of one. As to being behaviorurly conditioned maybe so I was in my early 20 when the Health System came into effect. The good thing about our system is that you do not have to participate but them why wouldn't you. If your rich enough you can get personal insurance as long as it does not cover what the Gov plan does. You want a private room and a personal nurse you can if you can afford it. Me I like it the way it is. I get sick I go to the Doctor if he feels I need it he throws me in the Hospital and I get to spend some time relaxing and away from all my day to day work. Usually I'm in a semi-private room though I have been in a ward a few times. The wards at our Hospital have 4 beds in them so it is not to crowded. Alot of things that were said about our system are not true in fact they were down right lies. No one tells me what Doc I can have or if I can't have this or that proceedure or medication. The only thing I have against it is the food especially the coffee. It's worse than Army coffee. That's why our Hospital has a Tim Hortons in it and every time I've been in there I just go buy a coffee when ever I feel like one. The last time I was in Iwent for a walk at around 10:00pm and ended up sitting in the ER having Lemon Merenge pie with the nurses. I can even go outside for a smoke.

Camac

Camac.

Camac. Your medical is free? Now I'm surprised at you. Are you saying it doesn" come out of your Astronomical taxes? Is that quote,"Medicare is free in Canada "actually a true statement? Now Army or in my case Navy coffee should be free but isn't tongue.gif . But Tim Hortins isn't either but is sadly cheaper then Army coffee being what the companys charge the Government. tongue.gif
