Interesting. It is important to keep in mind that much of what we know about Celtic Druids is fragmentary and based on third party accounts. It is quite likely that the ancient Druid class was akin to the Brahmin caste of India, which is to say they were the Celtic professional class, and included teachers, bards, poets, doctors, and lawyers (to use modern terms), as well as religious and spiritual leaders. IMHO, modern self-styled Druids have little, if any, connection to Celtic Druids. As with India's Brahmins, it is likely that Celtic Druids largely inherited their status as such. I would be surprised if any of today's "Druids" could trace their lineage back to a Celtic Druid. I think it would be much correct for today's "Druids" to say that they were inspired by Celtic Druids, rather than to claim any real link to them.
