Very true. Religion is little more than works.

I recall the quote "I'm not religious. I just love God."

Just food for thought.

Faith is belief without empirical evidence. It might not be rational but humans are not completely rational creatures and it fulfills a need in the human spirit. Sadly, faith is often easily manipulated by those seeking power to gain their own ends. This is why I avoid any form of organized faith or religion.

O'siyo bubba,
~ Well defined! But, I must ask...do you really believe humans aren't rational? unsure.gif Reason I ponder this question is purely based on survival..I can't help to wonder how is it if we as humans aren't rational how is it that we seem to survive all that comes before us in life? cool.gif Just curious sleep.gif And does being rational mean we 'just know' what decisions to make? I just love pondering good food for thought! wine.gif
~I tend to agree with you when you speak of people wanting to manipulate our Faith to benefit them..I have found this to be true with Religion and in some cases, Spirituality..humans, not all, tend to manipulate many things in life to benefit them and their 'causes'..

If humans were rational there wouldn't be blind hatred of others that look different and war, the most horific and self destructive activity man engages in, wouldn't happen. Being rational means looking at all the available data and determining the best course of action based on reason. People generally don't do that. Too often the brain is disengaged and the glands take over. I'll admit I'm as guilty of it as anyone at times. Maybe I sound a bit cynical, but I reached the point I'm at after being in combat, learning how badly leaders use the people they're supposed to serve and protect and having a pretty rough time for some years. You might say I got here through review of the empirical evidence. wink.gif

A nice quote JaneyMae that I had forgotten all about!

Open your eyes to the world around you, not just to the things pointed out to you....there is much to learn!
