Celtic Radio Community > Technical Support > Requests And Repeats

Ok, I understand the reasons for the request limitation, and I know that this is a new system... but has anyone else noticed a larger number of repeats in the playlists?

Like right now, Tim McGowan is playing "Hopes and Dreams," and the next song in the Queue to be played... Tim McGowan "Hopes and Dreams." The Ennis Sisters ""Lord of the Dance was played like 10 minutes ago, and its in the Queue to be played again in like 2 songs, as well as Aselin Debison "Getting Dark Again," which was just played before Ennis Sisters "Lord of the Dance."

Most notable though is Imaginary Heaven / Keri Steel / Nina Loretto "Can You See the Border" which has been played at least two times already, and is queued up for a third. Again, not complaining, I like all these songs, but I thought some of the point of limiting requests was to diversify the play list and to keep from having the same songs repeated several times in a row.

Not to hijack this thread, but I've also noticed that the the station announcements now sound like they're being played over a "real" song which is then cut out once the announcement is over. Is that intentional? If so, would it be possible to drop the volume of the song to more background level?

Thank you Danann for bringing this up. We have also received a very detailed messaged with the songs that played at the time from one of our moderators.

The problem is that our script to play the top ten requests is enabled when requests are enabled. So it appears that people requested the same songs on our top ten count down right before the top ten count down begins. This is not good because the songs could repeat within minutes. We have re-arranged the top ten request count down and request times so this does not reoccur. Again, the listeners prove smarter than the programmer! biggrin.gif

On the new station trailers we have added a few new ones that were not playing previously and we have included some background mixing of music and sound effects that is very common on radio stations and other internet radio stations. We did record and mix the voice tracks louder than the background music. Perhaps on the broadcast it does not sound the same as locally, so we will monitor the trailers and re-mix if they are not clear. Does anyone else feel the same way? We will be adding alot of new trailers soon, so we will be sensitive to this issue when mixing if people think the background music on the trailers is too high.

I only heard one new one today, and - speaking as a former DeeJay- It sounded really good. The only thing I'd change was the leftover music at the end.
