Celtic Radio Community > Irish Gaelic > Need Help With Daughter's Wedding

Posted by: Madadh 26-Feb-2006, 06:20 PM
My daughter would like to place these phrases on the tables at her wedding. Can I get some help please in translating the phrases into Irish?

I love you
Always and Forever
On this day I marry my friend
The beginning of forever
A celebration of love and friendship
…and they lived happily ever after.
From this day forward
To have and to hold
Honor, Courage, Commitment
Always Faithful
Love conquers all
What God has put together let no man separate
I promise to be loving and faithful
I give you this ring…
Once upon a time
Love, loyalty, friendship

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Maggiemahone1,

We hope all goes well, what with getting the groom and his party in Kilts, getting a piper, and having the Marines not change her domicile.

I love you - Tá grá agam duit
Always and Forever - I gcónaí is go deo
On this day I marry my friend - Ar an lá seo, pósaim me chara
The beginning of forever - this one can't really be translated, as it would mean 'the beginning of the afterlife' in Irish! laugh.gif
A celebration of love and friendship - Ceiliúradh grá is cairdis
…and they lived happily ever after. - ...agus mhair siad go sona sásta as sin amach
From this day forward Ón lá seo amach
To have and to hold ...
Honor, Courage, Commitment - Onóir, misneach, gealltanas
Always Faithful - dílis i gcónaí
Love conquers all - Buann an grá ar an uile
What God has put together let no man separate An rud a chuir Dia le chéile, nár scara aon duine
I promise to be loving and faithful - Geallaim go mbeidh mé grámhar agus dílis
I give you this ring… - Tugaim an fáinne seo duit...
Once upon a time - fadó, fadó
Love, loyalty, friendship grá, dílseacht, cairdeas
