Celtic Radio Community > Technical Support > Unusual Playlist Today?

Please don't take this as a complaint - the music today has been great! It is just that so much of it has not been the typical during-the-workday cuts I am so used to hearing. I frequently listen to CelticRadio throughout the bulk of my workday. Several times today, I had to stop and make sure that iTunes still showed "CelticRadio" as the station I was listening to.

It has been the most restful playlist I think I have ever enjoyed through my workday, mostly instrumentals. And it seemed that the majority of the cuts I have never heard before. I know I have read here that recently there has been a great infusion of new music, maybe I'm just noticing it today.

But I'm dying to ask, was there anything unusual about today's playlist? Also, there were a couple of times today, after hearing unfamiliar music, that I took the time to browse to the website to check what album/artist/song was playing, and it didn't seem to sync with what I was hearing. Am I just under the effects of the antihisimine for my allergies?

Thanks for great music!

I had an opportunity to pay a little more attention to the playlist today for a while, and the songs I am hearing are definitely not the ones that are being displayed on the CR homepage playlist.

Is there a problem at my end?

Hi Ronboze,

I think I know what happened and I'd like to take a few moments to talk about our alternative stream called 'CelticHearts'.

'CelticHearts' is a soft only stream of Celtic music that is available through live365. This is not our live stream, but rather a compilation of the best of the best soft instrumental and soft voice music. It really is lovely, and we have received many compliments about that special programming.

However, as most of you know, it costs us money to keep this internet broadcast running. With our big donation push back in February we were able to purchase 1 year a broadband and modem streams. The CelticHearts stream is being paid every quarter, and for the last quarter I had to dig into my pocket to pay those charges.

My plan is to continue the CelticHearts stream for another 2 months. Around July we are going to be entering what I like to call the "Music" phase. This is were we will be coming up with a broadcast schedule and really playing different types of Celtic Music throughout the day. We will also become much more critical of the songs we play on the broadcast, so hopefully play the best of the best songs like CelticHearts.

Paul,

Thanks for the clarification. One question remains, how did I wind up suddenly being connected to Celtic Hearts instead of the live stream? Up until a few days ago, I've getting the live stream through Live365, ever since you had to do the "reorganization". I had understood that Live365 was going to have to be answer for some time to come.

I will admit to not staying current on all the news disseminated through the forum. Is the live stream coming from ShoutCast again? How can I connect to it? Is it subscription-based now?

Thanks.

I haven't listened to the stream at all today. I've just been listening to the mp3's I've downloaded in the past. Just downloaded two more a few minutes ago-"Rock Lobster" & "Love Shack" by The B-52's.
