I am providing this area for those of you that want to post comments not inline with specific recipes... If you want to divert from a recipe topic with added banter then this is the place.

I will be monitoring it.

Please only food related topics!

As I have my coffee and make myself breakfast on this chilly (for us) morning, I am reminded of my youth and something that always takes me back to a simpler, more rural time in my life. When my lovely wife got up for work it was 46 degrees - brrr, 48 now and raising slowly towards the 71 degrees it should reach later this afternoon - bbbetter...I made myself a breakfast of bacon ends, fresh eggs (from my friend's free range chickens) and cheese on rye bread...yum. And then there it was, on the counter, what it is that takes me back and always says to me..."this is country, this is the farm, this is going hunting or fishing with my dad and my brother, this is getting up early to work in dad's shop...this is living"... Now our dad had a small two story machine shop in our back yard that did everything and made anything, think of the Kilcher's Homestead on less than a half acre in an urban neighborhood and you'll get the picture...It was the best education in my life and would have been a sight better had I only realized it then...Any way, what was it on the counter that provokes such vivid memories every time I set my eyes on it? Just a simple troika of eggshells, coffee grounds and a cup of bacon grease.....
