Here you go aklassie. While I realize these may not be exactly what you are looking for as you want it in your area. One of these may have a database of Scottish Societies across the state so by contacting them you may get an answer to your question. Bare in mind I do not know how current these addresses are if hyperlinks they work if stree/PO Box address unknown as to currency.

Oh Genealogy societies here are some in the Washington state area not sure if any are close to Aberdeen as don't have a map handy but maybe your son might have a better idea.

Genealogical Society:

Pacific County Genealogical Society, PO Box 843, Ocean Park, WA 98640-0843. Membership available. The society?s genealogical collection is housed in the Ocean Park Timberland Library. Monthly society meetings are also held there.

South Pacific County Genealogical Society, PO Box 1024, Long Beach, WA 98631

If nothing else maybe they can point him in a local direction. :)

Just tell him about all the fun you're having. So far I think we're all having fun even though still a relatively small group, but one which is growing in size in fact a couple more and we hit 30 members. Would love to have him be one of those new members.  :)

Thanks, I don't know if it will help my son.  I think he was looking for a gen. society.  We have one here in Alaska.  If anyone is up this way in June.  They should check out the Highland Games in Eagle River.  What fun!!!!:)
