I'll start the ball rolling. And yes, I am of Scots-Irish, Scots and Welsh descent so some of the celtic genes float around in me.

When I was eight my grandmother was in the hospital. We went back to the family farm so my mother could be with her. One Sunday night the living room was full of cousins and my grandfather. We were watching The Wonderful World of Disney. Everyone was laughing and enjoying the show and each other's company. All of a sudden, I went cold. How could we all be laughing when our grandmother was dying? I knew with complete certainty that she was dying, even though everyone thought she was getting better. As hard as I tried, I could not shake the feeling.

In the morning, I woke to the news she had died in the night.

A few days later I was in the farmhouse alone and I felt the presence of the other side. I was certain if I stuck around I would see my grandma. I was a chicken, I got the heck out of there.

The perception of a sensitive child or second sight?

Most likely it was the spirit of your grandmother visiting you that gave you your feelings ( preminitions ) about her death. You see our spirit is not confined to these mortal bodies all the time and can move at will to places and people when the need arises. I am will to bet you were her favorite.

If you had stuck around during your second visitation you may have had a wonderfull experience.

Might have Shadows smile.gif but it was too overwhelming for me as a child. That was the feeling, it was just too big of a thing for me to handle and I was getting out of there.

Interesting idea about me being her favorite. I don't think I was, probably a younger cousin was her favorite. But I was my grandfather's favorite and I used to spend my summers with him later as a kinda helper around the house/companion. Maybe that was the connection she wanted to make. With the one who could make my grandfather smile.

Don't you think you have to be open to portable spirits though? I have a hard time thinking of my grandma reaching out much. She was a good, kind, loving women but not big on imagination. Very down to earth and practicle.
Now me, there are some people I know I am connected to all the time, can feel when they are thinking of me. Then again, I'm quite imaginitive.

In death the spirit is not always the same persona as it is when living in flesh... the creator's wisdom and love for all it's creations flows into the shared spirit and makes anything possible.
Yes your grandmother probibly was sending you a message to care for her loved husband.

O'siyo,
Perhaps, just perhaps, this 'second sight' we tend to experience is merely the beginning wink.gif of something not yet understood~

Second sight as it is being called here is something the majority has lost...

It was and has been part of life, even our animals have this gift, it is us that have lost the ability to use it...

It is a gift from the creator that needs to be nurished and cultured; why do we as "civilized" creatures place so much shame and fear on that which is a gift from the great one?

To use a phrase from the 1960's "Tune in, turn on " There is more to this existence then meets the eye.

Because it is frightening. While I appreciate the connection, I don't want to be able to forsee events. Especially when the context may not be clear.

Sometimes I wish I was able to See. I've had auditory experiences, and very strongly felt the presence of someone, but haven't been able to see them. That's spooky and frightening!

Second Sight is a gift given to be used wisely for the good of man.
It's a strong responsibility and not always easy to bear especially if you feel or see bad fortune which is approaching for someone near to your heart.
But we are meant to use this skill and not to refuse it and to accept it as what it is: A GIFT given to us by our creator for some reason.

Dreamer, when I read your post my first thought was that being frightened seems to be the point....if we are frightenend we shut down and end the contact. If you try to overcome this fear and to stay open you might be able to have a further, possibly very good experience.
I know that this sounds as, "oh yes, easily said"...we are so well-trained in denying or not standing up for those experiences that it really isn't easy in the beginning. But everyone has the ability...and once we do accept it as a part of us it is possible to overcome fears and to stay open .

I have had glimpses into the future through dreams I have had. I would dream about curtain things and a few weeks go by and I have a serious feeling of
Deja Vu, like I have seen or been there before or going through the same situation.. It is a weird happening when it does. I can't explain it but it comes and goes, never consistant.

Ok now let me ask....

Have you ever walked into a place and made eye contact with a stranger and had the feeling you needed to talk to that person?

It is more then just a feeling folks, that person has a message for you and often we just brush it off and walk away, if you had talked to that stranger if could have changed your whole life. This is not mere chance, it is something we in this point in time need to consider because it can be a factor in our own lives as well as others... we all have a message to share with others, it is just finding the right place, time and person to conveyand share with. Follow your senses, both physical and spiritual...!

O'siyo Shadow,
~Aye, I have had that experience more than once~ I agree with what you explained and I would add to it, my opinion only, that there are tymes that I know I am the one who is meant to deliver the 'message' wink.gif and had that stranger talked to me it could've altered their life sleep.gif

I am usually skeptical of such experiences, but I certainly don't discount them totally as I've had a similar experience.

It was about 12 years ago now. I was out deer hunting one day in an old forest area and I came into a small meadow which had a few relatively "new" trees growing in it. I felt this overwhelming sense that something was there with me. It was so intense that I was gripping my rifle extremely hard. I kept trying to tell my self that there must be a deer in the immediate vicinity and that I simply needed to be ready and I would soon seen it. Well, I walked to the other side of the meadow and did not see the deer I was so eagerly expecting. Then, just in the edge of the meadow, where the old growth forest resumed, there were the scattered bones and skull of a deer that had probably died there maybe 5-10 years previous. There were partially decayed. Nevertheless, I didn't see a live deer that day, but I sure has heck felt the presence of that dead one! It was the weirdest feeling I've ever had, and I've never felt it like that again. Od

dly, I rarely hunt alone now, and I did more often when I was younger. Perhaps when we drown out the other voices in our lives, we can better hear the spiritual ones.
