While, unfortunately, nothing but an American, I'm more Irish Gaelic than anything else, and lived there. You might say I feel more than a bit of connection, besides the Irish genes surely overwhelm the Norse and Germanic tidbits. Anyway, I lost my seven-month-old Phelim, and the funeral was very standard American, formal, distant, and formulaic. I want to do something that means something to me, or to my soul, if that's not too trite. I'm trying to track down funereal songs/dirges/laments for this, I don't care if they are in Gaelic or English, I do prefer that they have words. This is what I have so far-

I have a while, I have to wait for my memorial tattoo to be finished. Yes, I know, they're usually tacky but I chose Song of Solomon 8:6 (Set me as a seal upon your breast, as a seal upon your arm, for love is as strong as death) and translated it. Cuir mar shéala ar do bhrollach mé, mar fháinne ar do láimh. Óir ní láidre an bás ná an grá, (Rewrote it in Gaelic script) Thank you.
