Hey, just a thought

If money, time, and obligations were non-issues, what would you do?

Buy a small, snug, and simple cabin in the mountains (mountains of choice: Grand Tetons, or alternatively some rocky Greek isle with the sea below me), get a big, smart, protective dog who could go for help if I needed him to, have some townspeople check in on me and bring up supplies once a week -- and write.

Frist I would buy the house down the road from where I live and redo the inside, get a better Jeep, take my childern and their family's and spend a month in Scotland, give my childern some money and then I could live happy everafter no house or jeep payments.

First I pay my house which I built so that I can say: it's my own... I would finish the garden so that it will be a really nice place for sitting in the sun and enjoy the view to the Alps.
I have some dream travels in my head: My absolute favorite is a trip across the U.S. from East Coast to West Coast...

What do you say?
time, money and obligations are non-issues?

Yeah, Australia by train, hiking in Canada, down the Mississippi by raft (yes, I like the adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn) and for relaxing spend some time in Scotland and Ireland...
...I know I am too unassumingly today angel_not.gif

With a big smile in my face smile.gif

Wow, where to start. Maybe it would be that cabin in the mountains, or sailing around the world (on a sailboat), or traveling, everywhere I possibly could!

I would buy an island and become a pirate with all my friends. beer_mug.gif

Buy my parents a nice house here in the mountains where I live, pay off their medical bills, and give dad enough so he could retire, as good as he's been and as hard as he's worked, he deserves it.

For my brother, buy him the one guitar he dreams about more than any other, a six-string and 12-string double neck electric, and get him a fine, all-tube amp stack to go with it.

For me, pay a visit to Scotland and Ireland, the ancestral homes, and take in the folk music in person, before buying an all-tube stereo system and a custom, ultra-heavy turntable to play my vinyl on.

I would start by giving my parents enough that they could do whatever they wanted in their retirement. Then my family would visit two places: Wales (my ancestry) and my son wants Disneyworld.

I would then buy a house that is all mine. I would also get a house at the beach in Delaware so that I could go anytime I feel like it.

First I would get some sort of reliable transportation (meaning it has a great entertainment system) and then travel the world. And of course once I finished with the world there is always traveling throughout time and space and seeing the history of the world and the universe.

You did say time was a non issue. rolleyes.gif

I would purchase land in NW Scotland and spend as much time outdoors exploring the wilds either on horseback or on shank's pony and I would take my two German Shepherds with me. I would learn how to use my digital camera correctly and photograph what I see.

When I am at home, I would spend time reading all those books on my "to be read" pile and employ a chef so I never had to cook again!

Take some of the money and open a horse rehab/"cast off" farm. Rehab horses people give up for various health reasons etc, take in the ones some folks think are to old and "broken down". Start a program for kids with disabilities to learn how to ride and interact with horses and animals in general.

First, if money was no object, become my employer's biggest donor and help pay for the non-profit-sewing plant to expand substantially and hire even more physically and mentally challenged workers than there already are there, along with the requisite increase in social worker staff to assist them.

After that, go back to school and either learn to become either a vinyl record cutting engineer or get some business schooling so I could go back to my non-profit manufacturing employer and become a member of management to help it continue to grow.

I would build a large house out in the country and take in as many foster children as I could. There are so many children out there who don't have loving parents or homes and I want to help them all.

Would like to spend more time with my children and buy them all houses so I can go over and leave dishes in the sink and perhaps track some mud through the living room! biggrin.gif

I would hire the best DRs in the world to help fix me then I would take my wife on a world tour.

First I would have my lovely wife take her retirement so we can spend our time just being together. Take care of my Mom and my mother-in-law through the ends of their days. Help my wife's brothers and my brothers and sisters on to a path of solvency. Build a nice log home on a large tract of land in the pan handle region of Florida with a modest library. A shop with all the tools I would dare to use with my own personal gun range. From there we could travel the country to visit all our kids and grand kids any time we chose to. Then we could take those trips to Ireland like we've always wanted to...

I came across this thread and I wonder why I never posted my own answer when I started it. Certainly comparing my answer then and now could be quite interesting. But right now my thoughts lead to travel. There is a lot to see, and a lot to experience. Also, there is a lot of stuff I can't go in to here that I would do for my family.
