Hi there! I've been a member for awhile, but have been lurking....obviously!

I like to tell people that I'm Scots-Irish with some Norman and Danish Viking thrown in for good measure. Which explains why I tend to be a bit bloodthirsty. This surprises people when they find out I'm also a BanDrui.

As for my heritage....

On my mom's side -
I'm Clan Hamilton (this is where the Norman and Viking comes from). The Duke of Hamilton and Brandon is the Premier Duke of Scotland and the Keeper of Holyrood House. (It's a very interesting clan history, but much too long to go into here.) I've actually met their Graces, the Duke and Duchess of Hamilton....or, as I like to call them, Angus and Kay. Really charming, normal people.

On my dad's side -
I'm Clan Lamont. The Lamonts originally came from Ireland and settled in Dal Riada. My dad did the clan DNA testing and he actually is descended from Niall of the Nine Hostages. Which makes us O'Neills in Ireland. (Again, another fascinating, but long history!)

I'm also the New Mexico commissioner for both clans.

Generally, I'll read anything on Scots and Irish history that I can get my hands on. I'm trying to learn more Gaelic. As it stands now, I can have a brief conversation on how you are, what your name is, what the weather's doing....and then I can tell you to kiss my ass! angel_not.gif

Tapadh leibh!

Ok, I got "slainte", but other than that, I've got no clue. Eventually, I'll figure out what the rest of that sentence is!

And if yer offerin' a single malt of the uisge beatha, just leave the bottle! biggrin.gif

Hello Boudica, the warrior queen!

I'm glad that you finally posted in Introductions. As for being surprised about the bloodthirsty bit, well, all I can say is that "bandrui" isn't necessarily associated with Christian, and from the kiss my ass bit, I'm guessing you're not. wink.gif But at least it sounds like you're having fun here and that's what counts, isn't it?

Have a great weekend and I hope you meet lots of folks! bye1.gif

Welcome Boudica..... sounds like you have blood from the old sod racing through your veins.... If you are into Norman and Scot history, we oculd chat.... I'm an archaeologist presently digging early sites in Belarus, have some Norman and Viking material. Couple sites and burial mounds back to 3,000 bc. I've driveb all around Scotland many times, from Hadrian's Wall up to the fascinating Orkney Isle neolitic sites at Scara Brae. We could chat, but at this point not in Gaelic!
Welcome to here.

Welcome to CR Boudica quite an impressive family history you have here, you must be very proud of your heritage. Since you've been lurking for some times now I hope and will look forward to your future posts. smile.gif

And welcome to you petrikov what an interesting and rewarding career you have as an archeologist. I have been on pretty much the same road a you but on a different level. I've seen and walk on the Hadrian wall and to the neolithic village of Skara Brae on Orkney.I have to say that the place left it's mark on me. And to think that us in our moderns times think we are so smart.
Well we would not even be able to live like these wonderful being did.
I wil look forward to your future posts and read what you have to say about your discovery. smile.gif LOA
