(cry) I don't have the foggest idea how you get the neet pictures over your name. I would like to know it's done also.

OK this is fairly simple. All this is done from your control panel and I just checked and noted you also have no profile except what is done automatically during sign up so can show this as well.

OK now just below the Highlander Radio logo at the top of the page it should say Welcome Cabbagehome Just to the right of that it should say Your Control Panel go ahead and click that link.

Now on the new screen you should see a row of words like this. Bare in mind this is on one row it may get chopped in half if screen not wide enough but it's on one row.

Summary/Personal Info/Email Settings/Topic Tracker/Account Options/Modify Account

OK now to change your profile or choose a picture click on the personal info tab. On the next page you have 2 options one is profile in this you can enter all or nothing in it everything is optional. You can also add a personalized signature to it as well mine looks like this if you plan on using clickable link it should look like this. Bare in mind I have reduce this code to just one link (I have 3 in my signature) but unsure how much if any HTML you know so to make it simple there's one if you have 2 links just copy the code and paste the copy right after the first one all you do is change the URL and change Highlander Radio to the text you want the link to come out as.

Code Sample
Slāinte
Scottish2
<A HREF="http://www.celticradio.net">Highlander Radio</A>

Ok now once done click amend my profile and this saves it and transfers you back to the page where you started the profile. Now this time click the Avatar Options link.

Now here you have 2 options available to you. The first is the upper half where you can choose a avatar already in the database For instance Paul uses this one Which is in the database. Simple then click add this avatar to my profile and it will also be added to your posts.

Now second option is like my posts I use a specialized graphic not in the database to get a specialized graphic use the bottom half of page and just enter the URL to the graphic you want to use. You also need to enter in the width and height of the image (Note max size is 74 X 74 pixels!!!!;) if you are using an image on the web already and need these just right click on the desired image and at bottom of pop up menu choose properties and you should see this information on the screen that pops up along with the URL to that exact image. just enter this info into the boxes on the avatar screen and click on add my own imasge as my avatar. and this should give you the picture. If you use an image on someone elses website and disappears could be the image was removed or URL changed so check that if you have troubles in the future.

Drop me a note if you have any troubles. :)

(d) Thanks so much. You're so smart. Or maybe the guy who set up the web site.  (b)  Well heres to both of you.

Posted by: scottish2 24-Mar-2002, 04:30 PM
Well it's actually neither of us it's part of the software. Just a matter of how to set it up. If you note also and this I notice happens for all your person info if you change it it goes back in time and does the change for all your posts no matter when it was written. Like if I change my signature it sets the new signature to all my posts same with your posts and icon it does it for all. Anyways glad I could be of assistance.  :D

Well, I for one believe it is the person doing the explaining and I must certainly proclaim (as newly appointed king) that Dave does an exceedingly marvolous job in explaining these technical question so we can all understand!

Well I look at it this way. You never know how much of a computer nerd (Like you and me Paul  :p ) or a computer user whose brandie new at this knows about computers so best to just write it all out the first time around to save any troubles later.

But thank you your highness.  :)

(l)  An idea for avatars:

I actually don't have any way of uplaoding images to a website, but am very much wanting to use my own picture as my avatar. I do like the "priestess", but I had an idea instead.
Is it, or in the future, be possible to upload images from your computer directly? Or are you guys not doing that to possibly protect against viruses and the like?

(l) While i'm on the subject of ideas; is there any way to not have the clickable smiles automatically appear at the end of the post? I am always using the cut and paste routine to get those lil images where I want them  ;)

(d)  thanks so much!!   (d)

Good free solution for you and you can have fun while doing it. Just get yourself a free celtic heart website and mail. You can sign up for a free mail account on the sites main page then this also comes with a free website I believe having 2MB's of storage. You can then upload your choosen avatar there and also build your own website. Is the best alternative. It is web based uploading similar to geocities so you don't need any additional programs to use.

Other option would be to mail Paul your avatar and ask him to add it to the avatar database.

If you send the pictures you want included in the library to [email protected], we will get them in the message board.

While were on this subject, we do plan - later this year - to "refine" the message board with new features, better avators and more functionality. We will definitely look into that "clickable smilies" issue. It could be just an option  in the board setup that we need to change.

On the smilies I agree always a pain when going back thourgh and editing in fact entire font panel does same thing whether it is for links or boldness or images always adds it to the end. I think it might be an issue with IKON Board as I have noticed this on other boards I am on powered by this software including my own.

Does your free website offer uploading images from your computer? Or is that the same as celtic hearts?  :B  I've read the previous posts, but my brain isn't functioning yet. I have a week left  :p

I was going to wait until I came home before I started messing with websites and stuff again  (l)
Thanks for the info :)

Celtic hearts is the domain Paul's offering the sites through. Here's a sort of test page I did while I was testing it. Will be an intro page for my site which I can have in the directory as well. It's just a simple intro page with one link you click to enter my main page
