I don't claim to be any Bible scholar. I do know that the Holy Spirit has spoken to me the Word of God, revealed in many instanced undeniably. But here is a passage of scripture that can spark debate in Christian circles. In fact, I believe secularists would be prepared to take this passage on face value quicker than many Christians. I personally feel this is us, in a nutshell. What about you?

2 Timothy; Chapter 3

TI2 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

TI2 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

TI2 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

TI2 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

TI2 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

TI2 3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

TI2 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

TI2 3:8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

TI2 3:9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their's also was.

TI2 3:10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

TI2 3:11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.

TI2 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

TI2 3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

TI2 3:14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

TI2 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

TI2 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

TI2 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

I agree completely SC. Did you say that you are a truck driver?

Posted by: SCShamrock 12-Jun-2004, 11:57 PM
Yep, Raven. I've been trucking for the last, umm, 13 years. For about 2 years I did cross country work, then till a bit over a month ago it was all east of the Mississippi River. Just recently I gave that up and started running locally, hauling gasoline. I'm home every day now. My wife and kids love it, and so do I.

It is positively chilling that a scripture written so long ago could be such an accurate portrayal of the very society we live in right now. I wonder how much longer God is going to put up with us...

You know, actually I watch the cloning controversy and wonder if that is going to be the thing that really makes God mad - mankind creating 'life'.

O'siyo,
I have something that was given to me today by a fellow biker and I wanted to share it biggrin.gif If I am not posting in the right thread forgive me and feel free to move it..
First off, and my opinion ONLY is the majority of people stereotype bikers..they claim we are all beer drinking, drug using, filthy mouthed bums..That really bothers me but, doesn't affect my life..I feel this way...what someone does to their body and how they live their life is just that, what they are doing, and never will they have to answer to me nor do I judge anyone..to accept someone is to show them you love them unconditionally and that you know there is no such thing as perfection here on Mother Earth..Acceptance is something that is rare in today's society and in my opinion something that needs re-evaluated biggrin.gif
When I saw my friend who rides one of the sharpest Harley's I have ever seen, he handed me a card they had printed out so they could pass them out on the various runs (rides for charity/money raising events) that occur. So I wish to share it:

He Would Have a Harley: Jesus the Biker
He was alot like you and me. The government didn't like him. The church thought he was weird. His friends were weird. His friends were few. What friends he had, denied him. He was persecuted by hypocrites. He hung around people like you and me, not the good-two-shoes pharisees.
Yes, if Jesus were on this earth in the flesh he would be next to you on his Harley telling you he loved you...enough to die for you.

On the back is a prayer that goes like this:
BIKER'S PRAYER
God, I know you are real.
Thank you for being in the wind with me even before I ask. Thank you for your son, JESUS, that died for me!
Forgive me of my sins; for I truly repent and turn to you.
Jesus, I ask you now to come into my heart that we might ride together daily.
I dedicate myself and my scooter to serving you...Thank You, Lord for my salvation!
Thank You, for I am now "In His Wind"
AMEN

Just wanted to share this with you ~ smile ~ My friend is the President of the "Journey Men for Christ" N.E. Kentucky Chapter Motorcycle Club. Some of the most fun-loving people I have ever met and so much fun to ride with..

Welcome freekenny!

I don't know if your post exactly fits this thread or not either, but it is a wonderful post!

Thank you for giving me a side of the 'biker world' not often seen by the casual observer.

We are truely in or close to the end times for this I am convinced. Thank you for your posting SCShamrock. I think in the big sceme of things we forget what is happening around us, a bad case of tunnel vision. If it is in the Bible I believe it. Sadlly I would agree with you that these passages of scripture would "fuel" some debates in Christian circles but it is the word of God which should be taken at face value and not out of text. You don't have to be a Bible scholar to understand the Word, just open minded.

FreeKenny, I pass judgement on no one my friend. I am glad you started posting in this area. Your post is appropriate for this thread I think because those bikers who gave you the card are living for Jesus and walking the talk. Sounds like an awesome group of guys and gals if they have any riding with them. Keep hanging with them!!!! biggrin.gif

Freekenny, that is a wonderful card and service your friends a providing. I urge you be a part of it as well. The stereotype for bikers like you is no different from the one for truckers like me. These reputations didn't come as a part of urban legend, they were earned by years of evidence. Turning the tide on something like a persons' pre-conceived notions is a process, one that requires much dedication and diligence. Stay the course good neighbor!

As for posting in the wrong place, I for one always welcome comments and criticism over my posts, and tangents are a natural evolution to discussion. I would, however, rather seen you make a new post of it though (new topic) reason being that it is such a great testimony to the biker, and having it here limits exposure to only those reading the original subject. You might want to consider re-posting it in Kirk and Chapel under a subject title such as "Jesus would ride a Harley", or "The Messiah on a Hog"

Keep the faith my friend!! king.gif thumbs_up.gif cool.gif biggrin.gif
