Just wondering if anyone has any information on this clan....from what I've seen they were a pretty big clan. I'm quite interested with them because my last name, beard, is a variant spelling.

I have compiled about 179 years of history so far. Recently my grandmother sent me a photoalbum of a lot of the people on the tree that I have never met. Really old photos too which I love...it was so amazing to finally put faces to the names.

Basically I've learned that mostly all the men in my family were farmers and all the women were governesses or housekeepers. One woman was a housekeeper for a man and then fell in love and married him. Another was sent to london at the young age to work as a governess in a rich household....many months later she was sent home--pregnant by her boss. Quite the scandal. When she was older she married a wealthy farmer named Cyril Askew. Pretty crazy stuff.

I've only been able to get back to about 1815 because England only started to do censuses in the early 1800s so yeaaa

St. Paddy's day I went out with a friend to Borders...when we got home he was locked out of his house--so for the next hour we tried to break in. All of this while it was crazy cold outside and he was in a kilt.
The luck of the irish, ay?

"Mystic's Dream" by Loreena Mckennit

"Danny Boy" by Celtic Woman

"Black Friday Rule" by Flogging Molly

"The Fields of Athenry"

that's all I can think of right now...

Stress right now is...the most stressful thing in the world--love. Or my lack of that is.
I believe I've fallen for someone comepletely unattainable and I feel like a complete idiot about it...bah. I don't even know, it's a complicated situation but I feel had we met at a different time under different circumstances we could have had something.
I've had enough of this unrequited deal, because this isn't the first time. It's becoming QUITE the annoyance.

When I return there is an Irish dancing forum, and coincidentally in my absence I have taken up Irish dance. Last sunday I actually preformed for the first time, that was pretty crazy. I have yet to purchase my own shoes though since they're expensive. But anyway, does anyone else dance--hard or soft shoe?
I've only done hard shoe so far...and find it so invigorating and fun and it's just a rush to dance in such a complex and beautiful manor to the sounds of Ireland.

Hello everyone...not sure if you remember me, but yea I'm back. I apologize for my many months absence. Life happened, what can I say. But now I'm back and intend to (try) to stay because I seem to remember how lovely the celtic radio community is.

Lately I've been kicking much butt in the family history.
I'm back to my great great great grandparents--translated back to the 1815-1820s. And unconvered two new surnames.
My great great grandmother had 9 kids and was taking care of them all at age 50 by herself! One daughter was a governess for another house. Another was sent to london to be a housekeeper for a family and apparently the head of the house got her pregnent and it was this big scandal and she had to be sent home. Pretty interesting, I'd like to find out more about that story.
I've hit another wall right now and I just need to find online access to censuses from England from before 1850, anyone know where?

QUOTE (Liriel Baenre Do'Urden @ 12-Jul-2004, 04:10 PM)
Lyra,

Where are you coming from?  I'm coming in from Tioga County PA.  I have directions and if you need someone to meet you, I would be happy to help.

I'm coming from York...anywhere on your way? Haha if not that's okay, I'm not sure if I'll be (know it sounds cheesy) allowed to go.

And this is probably a stupid question, but is it the Bethlehem in Northhampton or in Clearfield?

Any fans out there? I especially love the Nocturnes. I've got the whole nocturne album and I don't know what it is I just find them so beautiful and inspiring. Although it's but one piano and nothing else you can feel so much emotion in the notes.

::bumps::

Talna enters the hall and without hesitation creates a bubble of Force light in her hand.
Where are you bloody Nerf Herders! I want my credits, I'm sick of this system...
Talna frowned to herself and proceeded forward catuiously. She didn't FEEl like sticking around anymore, she just wanted her money. Who knows, maybe before she knew it she'd be back on Nar Shaddaa betting on the pod races.

There hasn't been news on Tristan & Isolde in ages, but what I do know is that shooting has been wrapped for a while. But for some reason or another I'm pretty sure it's release date is going to be pushed back to sometime in 2005. I think this guy on imdb who worked on the set said we COULD get a trailer in November but I'm not sure.
