I too have just reread this topic and it is still just as interesting. I trust all goes well with Jeff and Freedom.
Stayed at a B&B in Blandford, Mass sitting at the breakfast table watching all the birds feeding at the platform feeder, then we notice no more birds, just a sparrow squatting down on the feeder and at first what we thought might be an injured or sick flicker sitting in the apple tree right there. They both stayed for about 5 minutes , very still and hunched, when all of a sudden this hawk came bursting around the apple tree , flew at the sparrow, the flicker takes off, sparrow escapes, hawk pulls a u-turn and gone. Breakfast table excitement. Later that day we come back from our travels and the hostess tells us how she was in the barn when all of a sudden a small bird flies into the barn and hits the window and falls, at the same time a sharp shinned hawk flew in after it and just missed hitting her. Must have been the same hawk looking for a spot of brunch before heading south again.

Well maybe because I am an inconsiderate, procrastinating, self obsessed, pitiful excuse of a middle aged old pophead (as my oldest use to say as a child, who is now 22) , you may now add the missing "o ".
I have no legitimate excuse for my neglect and deserve a good beating with a stick. Will any one buy senile dementia??!!?? Abduction by aliens??!!?? Called away for business trying to reunite TheBeatles???!!!?? Elvis called me and said he needed me right away??!!?? Laziness and procrastination followed by a good dose of guilt??!!??
Please pick A maybe B and not E
My sincerest and heartfelt apologies to all.
USN, Ultimately, Simple Neglectful
PS My Ireland journal still sits next to the computer, paperclipped to the last chapter, woefully waiting for me to get my act together. |

Hi folks, been weeks since I have had a chance to get on. Busy with work and our stupid DSL is constantly going down. Tried twice this morning to get on and lost it half way thru my typing. Now I have to go do deliveries. I feel like a pinwheel, lots of movement and flash, but I'm not really accomplishing much. Been very busy just not making alot of money at it. Also very busy doing genealogy research.
I'll be back!! UlsterScotNutt |

It is even simpler than that, we all are descendents of one person, all cousins , all related. Heck, after the last ice age you had about 60,000 individuals living in Europe major and now you have 300 million and the vast majority are not immigrants but of the 60k already there.
DNA testing is a tool.

QUOTE (MacEoghainn @ 14-Jul-2008, 07:01 PM) | I have attached a report (I hope) that will give everyone an idea of how complex this stuff can get, and yet how much progress can be made through DNA testing.
This report is by Dr. David N. Ewing, MD, who is the gentleman in charge of the Clan Ewing DNA study mentioned in my original post. David and I are also seventh cousins once removed according to our conventional paper Genealogies (We are listed as SR and DN in the report.
DYF399X testing we did was an attempt to differentiate closely related groups of Ewing men. So far the jury is out on what this has really done for us.
Here is an updated link to the Webpage for the Clan Ewing DNA Project for those who may be interested: Ewing Surname DNA Project |
Ok, After careful reading and thorough analysis of your Ewing DNA paper submitted I conclude.........................I have a headache!!! |

QUOTE (Sekhmet @ 10-Jul-2008, 04:03 PM) | Very cool! I have to dig ours back out, my mother did the National Geographic DNA testing as well, and for the life of me I don't know what I did with the results. They're around somewhere...
Our Todd DNA managed to settle a lot of questions we had regarding which branch belongs to which. The line I'm descended from seems to have landed in Pennsylvania, where they settled and the branches split from there. There's another branch that is in North Carolina that we still don't know much about, they're totally unrelated as near as we can find so far. |
Sekhmet, With my having done this DNA test we may have broken thru a new level in connecting past lineage. Oral history and post dated written history has the story of my gggggggggrandfather being one of either 3 or 4 brothers with the 2 or 3 other brothers losing touch with him. Some say one may have remained in Ireland. Some say an Alexander and a John may be his brothers but there is no documented proof, just anectdotal evidence in geographic proximities that they settled in the colonies and in the names of their corresponding children, all sharing names. Now with DNA testing I have been matched with a descendent of one of the other McNutts and this may very well attach some credence to the stories. I'm just not sure yet as I have not seen the documentation for the other family member.

The USA has cancelled its SoFA with Iraq today. Iraq is flexing its soveriegn muscles and demanding a deadline for withdrawal and is complaining about the 20 plus "permanent" military bases and posts being constructed.
With oil supply being produced at a deficit to meet demand on a daily basis, we conserve and for every barrell we conserve, someone else is in line to buy it.
We as a nation are being strategic in the placement of our noses.
Read this, ignore any perceived bias and look at the last sentence.

It is amazing again the volume of money that has transferred itself to the top!
It is amazing how much "money" is being created to cover debt!
It is not a wonder that the dollar is so weak and the economy in the dumpster!
Oil will never again go down in price!
If you have money you will position yourself to take advantage of the windfall profits being removed from the energy consumer to the energy investor!
As the worlds major consumer of about everything there is, best consider how you will be paying for your future consumption!
When you consume anything in any manner you are left with !
These views are the authors and may be extreme and pessimistic cause I haven't had my coffee yet!

For a reading of many histories of slavery , go to Google, type in slavery history, you will find many resources there. From ancient thru today.
No doubt slavery pre-dates recorded history.
It is recorded in Babylonian times, in Persia, ancient Egypt and Greece and Roman territory.
