With the weather finally calming down and heating up, I was outside cleaning toys for my grandson that had been stored for the winter. Sure enough, I ran a black widow out of one the toy cars. They make the cars so intricate that they find lots of nooks and crannies to set up housekeeping. We also have to look out for brown recluse spiders, nasty buggers!

Have a safe and happy Easter!

We are supposed to have them here but I have never seen one. Maybe because my idea of spring cleaning is at the low end of the spectrum.

Watch out for those damned brown recluses. They aren't that big, but the bite venom starts a process of tissue breakdown that can make a huge wound full of dead tissue that is very hard to heal and that take days to develop, so doctors who don't know what they are looking at wait too long to start aggressive treatment to save the bitten part. You need to drive the spiders out with rapping and banging around remote corners before reaching behind or under anything with your hand, and if you get bitten, you have to make sure the doctor knows what bit you. Print out some info to bring with you.

I saw pictures of the progression of flesh decay from a brown recluse bite and it was not pretty. My storage shed could be harboring anything.
