We have only two kinds of butterflies here, the white Cabbage Butterfly, and the big tiger swallowtail. As for fireflies, they are a myth from far away places. But we do have the Sphinx Moth, they can get as big as a Barn Swallow!
Hoka Hey! The more Liberals I meet, the more I like my dogs!
Aye, it is lovely here! But you should know that except fot the coast (Seattle and Portland) that the rest is desert. The area that I call home only gets 4-6 inches of precip a year! It is beautiful, but NOT what people think of when they invision the Northwest.
I have seen so many butterlies lately...we have Monarch Butterflies here in New England!!!!! I love watching them fly......makes me think of my grandma's love for flowers..do you think she is watching me when they fly by? MArti64
]AN EXCERPT FROM A POEM THAT I WROTE ON 10/11/07
WE CAN'T CHANGE WHAT WE HAVE DONE.... BUT ONLY TAKE A LESSON FROM EACH EXPERIENCE AND MAKE THE MOST OF EACH MINUTE THAT WE HAVE LEFT AND TELL OURELVES THAT IT IS OK TO LIVE, LAUGH AND CRY..... PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE ALL WORK TOGETHER TO GIVE US WHAT WE CAN AND SHOULD EXPERIENCE AND WE NEED TO CHERISH ALL OF THE TIME THAT WE SPEND WITH OURSELVES AND OTHERS MAKING THE MOST OF THE SPECIAL MEMORIES THAT ARE OURS.. AND THE ONES THAT WE HAVE YET TO CREATE WITH THE PEOPLE THAT WE HAVEN'T MET!!!!![/SIZE]
Monark butterflies are flying south which means Big Redfish in the surf. Here on Georgia's coast when we see Monarks it means good fishing in the surf. I have seen Monarks 5-10 miles offshore already. B)
About 3 years ago I planted a medium sized butterfly garden. Both my grandchildren and I have had many hours of pleasure watching them, and looking up the different types. It has opened a new world of science for them and a lot of pleasure for me seeing the interest it has generated in them. Truly butterflys and flowers are God's gift of jewels to the world.
Dedicate some of your life to others. Your dedication will not be a sacrifice. It will be an exhilarating experience because it is intense effort applied toward a meaningful end. Dr. Thomas Dooley
