What kind of computer speakers do you use? I took some of the money I got from Santa Claus and bought the Creative Inspire T3030 speakers for about $50 at Staples. Components: 2 satellite speakers 1 subwoofer 1 wired remote The wired remote controls both the volume and bass level. It also has a headphone jack. I see the Altec Lansing speakers that are about the same price still have the annoying hiss in the right satellite.

Hi Mike, I'm glad that you must have been a good boy last year to use part of your booty from Santa to buy what look like excellent speakers. To answer your question, I have an old (approximately seven years) set of Labtec 80609STs - they have a three inch mid-range and a two inch tweeter in each desktop speaker, and a whoping 10 inch base that's in a cabinet that measures 11 inches square and 15 inches high. The output ranges from 20 to 20,000 dbs, and despite the age, still has great clarity. The right stereo speaker has all the controls on it - treble, mid and bass adjustments, as well as the volume and the "3D Stereo Surround Sound" control. I like them very much and they've performed very well on every computer system I've ever hooked them to. I hope that you enjoy yours for years to come as much as I enjoy mine!

I almost wasn't going to post in here because what I pump my computer's audio through is rather in a whole different leauge from what most people have connected to their PC. The thing is, I have only heard of others doing the same or similar. Most of the time when I hear of it, they have specifically built a MythTV box or similar that they are using. whow- that's one awesome looking setup! I hope it sounds as good as it looks. I have considered doing something similar but have yet to get the components together. I have an Audigy2 card in my machine, which will run 4 speakers and a subwoofer in environmental sound mode (EAX for gaming).

I use Sony SRS-Z500 (it's 6 years old already) the sound is pretty good other that, I have good bluetooth setup for wireless headphones, no dead spot inside the house

Sounds like you may have come up with the solution.

That would definitely do the job. I do recommend a digital interconnect between the computer and receiver though. HDDs and fans are electrically very chatty. Should be able to run it all over normal audio cable though. I do. it probably has to do a lot of CRC checks given the length of cable, but if it does, then I don't notice the difference.

I've got the floor speakers like Aaediwen's KLH 9915's. I power them with an RCA Professional Series receiver STAV4090. I use the optical from the Creative Labs PCI-E X-Fi Extreme Audio to the receiver and it does well. I gotta keep it low in this apartment surrounded by brick, but it does okay, while the people below me are gone. Darn concrete building! I need my own pad.
