One of my most memorable fourth of Julys was in 1976 when we were celebrating our Bicentenial. All I remember were US flags everywhere, fireworks, music, and dancing to stars and stripes forever at the height of the festivities!
Here some other memories. Seeing President Ford flying in the presidential helicopter to Concord, MA - although I only managed to see his bald head on my fathers shoulders. Creating T-shirts for our grammar School - the front had a picture of the peace signal backdropped in the American flag. Watching revolutionary reenactments, fife and drums and eating tons and tons of icecream!
One regret I have was putting a firecracker into the charcoal of the cook out and watching burning coals drap my parents roof. Luckily I had a brother save me by washing them off with the hose and not telling Dad!
