I now that you are just now online. Can you tell me where you did find the Russian translation software, please?
My father fought in Stalingrad in the WWII unfortunately in the wrong side but he felt in love with Russia and the Russians and when the Germans withdraw he stayed hidden from the Soviets and Nazis by a old couple just because he fed them and he did take care of them all the way through the occupation and my father did look like the couple's son killed by the Nazis. So I owe my father to the Russians! He taught me Russian and then I did three years on Radio Moscow, but I couldn't practice because if Franco police did know that me or my father did speak Russian we would have been tortured to dead. So I've forgotten a lot.
He also tried to teach me German but for some mysterious reason I can't learn German and I did try hard several times.
I am using an old dictionary printed in 1939 in Moscow that my father brought back with him but is very tiring writing by looking all the time in the grammar and Russian dictionary.
Hello Russian speakers. I've always wanted to learn Russian. Can you recommend a good book to start out with for a complete beginner? Also a good dictionary? Thanks.

Don't know about a dictionary, but I have this kit with four tapes and a substantial little book for getting started, that I would be happy to give you. I used it a few years ago for something where I had to learn pronunciation and a few useful phrases. It's practically unused. PM me where I can send it, if it looks good to you. It's just collecting dust at the moment.
Let me get back to you with a good address. Life is in transition right now. I'm between jobs, between incomes and not sure what's going to happen with my address in the near future. I may just get a PO Box - can you let it collect just a bit more dust? I'd love to take it off your hands if you're not using it. Diolch (thanks).
By the by- I couldn't answer your email message, this system said you didn't exist!! I run into problems with the functions on this board occasionally so it could have been something I did/didn't do - but just in case you want to do a level one diagnostic......it said I had to enter your SN in member field but it was already there since I hit "reply". Then I did a search through the member list and the system said no such member existed. I checked spelling. Still befuddled. Yet hopfully you'll see this message.

Yes, of course it can wait. I really would like to give it to someone who's going to use it.
That's odd about the e-mail. I have received mesages recently from someone else on this site, both to my regular yahoo account and to the account I have through celticradio, so I can't think what the problem might be.
But last time I checked I did exist. Bit too solidly for my own good, perhaps.
Thanks alot. I'll use it. Naturally my main language study over the last 3 years has been Welsh, and those threads are where I post most often, but I always wanted to learn Russian. Let me get some stability in my topsy turvy life first.
