Celtic Radio Community > Quizes & Polls > What's On Your "Bucket List"?

Posted by: jbarron 17-Jul-2008, 03:38 PM
I have been thinking I should start a "Bucket List" (inspired by the movie with Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson).

Here are some of the things I would have on mine:

1. Visit Scotland (of course that is number one)
2. Discover and visit a previously unknown relative in another country
3. Sail down the east coast
4. Parasailing
5. Learn some Gaelic
6. Run the Bolder Boulder 10k with my son
7. Ride the top 10 roller coasters in the U.S.

That's a fun thread jbarron.

Mines are:

1* Looking forward our trip to Iceland this fall.
2* Our returned to Scotland for the renewing of our wedding vows.
3* Finish the renovations already in progress around our house.
4* Planning on reducing my working days from 5 to 4 days/week.
5* On my day off I'd like to get back on my paintings and writings.
6* And, health permitted one day retire to Nova Scotia.

Someone stole my bucket, can I use a washtub?

Oh I like this one - everyone should have a bucket list. All yours are really good! My number one would be travel to Scotland and live out the rest of my days there. I can see myself having a bit of that wonderful green where a few sheep might roam, enjoying the sheer beauty of simply being there - oh yeah . . . Other than this, I want to win the 'powerball' and tell my lovely creditors to 'sod off'.

1. Follow Camac to that fountain of youth, but unlike him, stay retired, just be younger while I do it!
2. Move Palm Springs out of California so I can move to it. My wife and I really love it there, except it is governed, sort of, by Californians.
3. Give up on the waiting for Palm Springs to move and just move there anyway.
4. Visit my long lost relatives from Ireland who moved to Ottawa.
5. Visit the rest of the clan in Ireland.
6. Learn a second language.
7. Become more proficient at the piano.
8. Become more proficient at the tin whistle.
9. Spend time in London and Paris
10. Observe the heavens from Australia.

wdorholt! smile when you say Californians, some of us were born here. Most of the those you refer to are not even from California but we are stuck with them. That is unless you have a way to make them go back to what ever state they came from. biggrin.gif

My bucket list, well let's see now.

#1. A long trip to ireland and Scotland. ( 2 or 3 month's )
#2. A long trip to the rest of the Celtic nation's. ( 2 or 3 month's )
#3. A long trip to australia and New zealand. ( 2 or 3 month's )
#4. A long trip just traveling the United States. ( for as long as I wish )
#5. See my two Great Grandsons grow up to be fine young men.
#6. Master one song on my Tin Whistle.
#7. Cruise with my wife to Alaska.
#8. Find the perfect Cheeseburger, Fries and Shake.
#9. Meet some of the fine people here on Celtic Radio.
#10. Get my Jeep back on the road so I can do #4.

I've really only got one left on my list and that's to visit/move to Ireland/Scotland.
Could use another trip to Disneyworld though. And a new kilt...

Dang it now I got a new list!!! rolleyes.gif

#1 See all of my kids (present and future) get married and have kids of their own.
#2 Finish a book for once (write, not read).
#3 200mph Baby!!!!!
#4 Cut an album.
#5 Own a Porsche of some kind.
#6 See the UK.
#7 Take Ange to any place on Earth she wants to go most.
#8 Fabricate one of my ideas, rather than just make schematics and do nothing with them.

oldrave;

My bucket list is very short:

On my imminent demise I will convert to Islam blow myself up in an act of Martyrdom and get my 40 Virgins when I get to Paradise. I figure if I'm going to be there for awhile I might as well enjoy myself.

That's one theory, Camac. Hah!

I just thought of #9.

Take Coira to see the Taj Mahal. She's already asked to go to England "To visit Harry Potter", but when I told her the story behind the building of the Taj Mahal, she's becoming obsessed with seeing the place in person. Every time the song comes on (http://www.lyricsdownload.com/sam-roberts-taj-mahal-lyrics.html, it's a beautiful song, and I encourage everone to check it out) she asks to go there. It's hard to explain to a 4 year old that it's a lot more difficult to go to India than it is to go to town.

I need to get another job before I kick it.

Posted by: Robert Phoenix 01-Feb-2010, 01:50 PM
Ditto on the job stituation. Actually I would like a career, not a job. Been laid off for two weeks now and I'm bored out of my skull.

Hey Carmac, you better hope those are female virgins!
Better check out the job description from an expert first

Robert Phoenix;

I hope so too. From what I've heard it's women for breeding and boys for pleasure. I'll take the breeding part.

I plan to celebrate my 125th birthday before I check out. I want to have 5-6 generations there to help blow out all the candles! happybday.gif

As for job hunts, I heard that there is a temporary Census job available for $15/hr, $18/hr if you speak a second language. It may not be a career but it is a temporary cure for boredom and you will probably get a chance to see how rough some folks have it.

All joking aside' I hope to hang around for a few more years but when my time comes I want to go like my Step-Father did. He was surrounded by those who loved him (even me) he was sleeping but suddenly woke up asked is this the dying room when he was told yes he said "OK I'm not fighting" closed his eyes and was gone. He died as he had lived his life, on his terms and the Devil take the hindmost.

In no particular order:

1. Visit Ireland
2. Visit Scotland
3. Visit Japan
4. Learn Irish/Gaelic
5. Meet Amanda Tapping/Celtic Thunder/Celtic Woman, aha.
6. Meet Great Big Sea

I'm sure there's more realistic ones, but I'm still young. wink.gif

For those that have "Visit New Zealand" on their list, feel free to PM me or start a topic & ask me about it! I'm more than willing to share my experiences.
