I see, some people want to know about Celtic music in Russia. So, we love the Celts and their history, and, of course, we love their music! Many musicians play and sing folk music, connecting Celtic, Bretonic and even Slavonic traditions...

So...

Clann Lir
Or, in Russian, "Дети Лира".

Their lead singer, Hellawes (Natalia Nikolaeva, Natalia O'Shea now), has another one group named "The Mill".

The Mill

This is neo-folk, but I can't to describe style correctly. You know, and they can't do it, too. tongue.gif You can download mp3's there.

Wow! Tuilel! How so very interesting! I had no idea that Russia had an interest in Celtic music and all things Celtic! that is what I love about the internet is we all get to correspond with each other from all over the world and learn about each other and do away with stereotypes! Too bad we can't promote world peace through the internet too, but I believe this is a start!

Thank you so much Tuilel for educating us. I will have to check out some of those groups you listed! thumbs_up.gif

I didnt find another topic, so if Tuilel authorized me, i write about a hungarian celtic band:)).

They called: Bran
They played about 1993, in traditional celtic and breton melodies. They have 6 albums (Antlerswood, A csontnak a partjain, Tír na nÓg, Port, Immram, Idir).

Website:

http://www.bran.hu/

Irish music magazine (2003):
HUNGARY FOR BRAN
"While there are many well known Irish performers touring Europe, there are also countless singers and bands who, influenced by Irish music contribute their own unique melodies to the European music scene. One such group is BRAN, a band located in Hungary, who have been playing traditional Irish music for the last 10 years. The group leader, Gáborjan Kovacs studied in UCC in 1992/3. Some of the subjects included Ethnomusicology, Celtic Mythology, the Cultural History of Medieval Ireland and the Irish language. One of his professors was the world renowned Micheál Ó Suileabháin. On his return to Hungary, Gáborjan sought to familiarise people with different aspects of Irish traditions. Indeed included in Brans concerts are lectures on Irish history and culture. Other members of the group include - Róbert Császár, Sándor Kis and Tánya Szabó. Together they create a unique and fasinating insight into Irish music. They have released a number of CDs- Immran, Idir, Port, Antlerswood and Tír na nÓg, the last of which contains Irish fairy-tales which have been translated into Hungarian. The band appears regularly in Budapest. Included in their performance are slide shows, story-telling, céilí and dance classes. So if youre in Hungary why not seek BRAN out, and experience Irish music with a difference."

Different: I listen some russian celtic music, and its wonderful... i really like this:))

Athalay! I am constantly amazed as to the interest in Celtic music by different countries. However, if we study Celtic history, the ancient Celts traveled to many countries way back when!

From arrows and charms
From burrows and nests
You Deity Ishtar
I pray guard my tent

Sibling and friend!

My potion of war
My full boiling bowl
You Deity Ishtar
I pray guard my bow

Khan wants me now!

The dying - be gone
The ill - you be gone
You Deity Ishtar
I pray guard my flame

Firely game!

The dying - be gone
The wicked - be gone
You Deity Ishtar
I pray guard my tub

Blazes and tar!

The dying - be gone
All fondling's for young
You Deity Ishtar
I pray guard my steeds

Foster And Heed!
